Skoda Yeti (2009 - 2017)
Elegance 2.0 TDI CR 110 5dr
Biggest car mistake I ever made...
...was buying a Yeti. Not helped by the utterly useless dealers (in 2 towns). Only done 45,000 miles in almost 9 years, but all 4 brake drums have rusted right through (twice!!), it's on its third full set of tyres, both nearside door seals have gone so rainwater leaks in, the carpets have worn through and the brakes make a grinding noise when applied. The brake problem was present from new and after a trip to the dealer they told me they knew what it was - "we know what that is mate, it's a fault, that's what that is" - but no, they can't/won't fix it. Has needed a full set of springs too as every one of the originals has broken as well as new shock absorbers. Lots of little niggly things too, like interior lights packing up, one of the fog lamps randomly coming on and off for no reason, etc. Dread to think what could've gone wrong if I'd driven something like the average number of miles per year...
Worst of all, it randomly stalls for no reason at all. Twice the engine has cut out as I was half way across a busy junction. No, both the dealers I've used don't know what it is or what to do about it.
To top it all, it had VW's fraud emissions system installed. Which they wrote to me about 4 times, making a big deal about how lucky I was that they were going to rectify it for free. Well thanks a bunch.
NEVER, ever buy anything from the VW group.
