Skoda Yeti (2009 - 2017)
1.2 TSI 110ps SE L 5dr Outdoor
A great all-rounder that was needed to cover a multitude of bases
Spent the longest time ever trying to decide what to replace my Octavia 1.9TD estate with before settling on this. Wasn't going to get another Skoda as they felt boring, but the politics of fuel type, running costs, reliability and other factors, coupled with finding this special edition sealed the deal.
For my work I needed a car that had all mod cons for journeys very early morning and late at night. It is totally comfortable cruising at 70, the only adaption being getting used to the slight jiggle at times due to the short wheelbase. It is nippy on B roads, very directional, and works well when taken into London. It's ULEZ free and has parked in some pretty tight spots.
The variable rear seating is great for tip runs, and adapts when I require for charity work. The seats can be heavy if I need to remove them, but the flexibility makes it worhwhile. There is still a good space even when just folded.
I like the fact that I can turn off the nanny features vie the menu and largly drive the old fashion way. The main lighting switch is illogical though, with no indication that you are on dipped lights. I also don't lke the instruments going to illuminated needles only when driving on sidelights. I have also stopped using intermittent wipe, as the computer seems to be using an algorithm of its own that doesn't conform to my requiremet for a clean screen.
So far I have used the main dealer for my main services, although I have started using a local garage for MOT's and will probably move to them soon. The main problem with the dealer is that they seem overwhelmed with work and require 2 months notice for routine work.
In summary, the car has proved 100% reliable, is quiet, versatile, works 'off the beaten track', and suits me for for both work and play.
