Skoda Yeti (2009 - 2017)
E 1.2 TSI 5dr Hatchback
Even better than my old Skoda Fabia!
My old 1999 1.4l 16 valve Fabia was too small for three growing grandchildren, Nanny & me. We needed space for 3 kiddie seats in the back and they fitted well in the Yeti which still (just)goes in the garage space vacated by the Fabia which my son now uses daily for work. I did look at other makes but Skoda still won overall partly because some vehicles I looked at were just too big. There's no point driving around more metal than you actually need!
I was averaging 45.6 mpg in the Fabia against 44.3 in the Yeti's first year, not bad considering the bigger body on the new car and a tight new engine. Performance overall is close to the larger engined Fabia and despite occasional claims by other reviewers about inferior Yeti ride quality I find it ok - especially over some of the ferocious speed humps in the Nottingham area. Although I'm reasonably tall the higher driving position is a bonus.
Ignore the 'grandad' in my signon - I keep up to speed limits wherever safe & possible and normally beat the satnav timings on longer runs but I do drive with my brains rather than a heavy right boot!
I'm hoping to get as long out of the Yeti as I did out of the Fabia so I'm not looking to change any time soon!!
