Skoda Yeti (2009 - 2017)
Elegance 2.0 TDI CR 170 4x4 5dr Hatchback
Brilliant blend of performance, grin factor, practicality & running costs
Previously reviewed & loved it then. Still do, even more so, & now with 75k hard, enjoyable miles under its belt, still going as well as ever. The handling still impresses & having driven most of its rivals, even now nothing offers that level of performance, handling & build quality, yet combines it with 1760 litres of carrying capacity (*see also below). Remember the Yeti's shorter than a golf & now sits somewhere between the Cashcow & Juke. Still love the boxy 4x4 styling too rather than the hatch on stilts norm! A manual diesel Elegance (now SE-L) seems to be a definite sweet spot in the range for reliability, running costs & useful level of kit (xenons, bluetooth, heated leather of major note). *Just add the folding front passenger seat to really give maximum practicality, (9ft lengths of whatever & cargo capacity over 2000 litres! Try getting that lot in a Sportage, Cashcow, CX5, Kuga or X1/X3 even though they're much larger cars! In 4 1/2 years the only fault has been a driver's seat base heating element failure. The car also had the doors resprayed as it's in that batch 2011/2 that had some questionable paint quality, now resolved afak. REAL WORLD economy calculated every fill-up 43-45mpg even the way i drive! (trip computer is adamant it's 48 -it's wrong!) You'll see 50+ on a m'way run @ 70mph though. Buy 1, you won't regret it. Question is,what to eventually replace it with.
