Skoda Yeti (2009 - 2017)
1.2SE 105hp manual
Fair package for small family, several issues
Bought new..
Economy is average.. Running costs good.easy to service (best outside the dealer network or work on it yourself like I do).. Handling okay for a small family car.. Performance okay for everyday use but B road overtaking is limited unless you really floor it..
Interior looking dated now but holding up okay..
Faults: small stones trapped behind brake discs (only happened once). Water pump failed at 35000 miles.. Rear hatch lock mechanism failed and replaced.. CD player failed but radio okay.. Rear door central locking failed (wiring harness needs replacing).. Several small oil leaks due to hosing and joints, cheap replacement sorted it out... Bulbs front and rear need frequent replacement. Lower plastics of poor scratchy quality. Oil consumption higher than I would like 1 litre /3000 miles...
Overall satisfied as this has been a reasonable car and practical.. More faults than we would have liked (it has now done 70000 miles)... Keep it well serviced and annual (8000 mile maximum) high quality 100% synthetic oil changes are the key to keeping the small turbocharged engine in good condition..
A good 2nd hand buy if it has been looked after...
We will choose Mazda l, Honda or Toyota next time as we reckon VAG quality is poor and getting worse whilst prices are always high..
