How do I get a C1 category reinstated on my driving licence?

I was scheduled for a major operation to remove my pancreas, I was started on insulin injection on Jan 13 so before the operaton on 7 march I sent in my licence within the 3 months period required I now have it back less the C1 and C1e categories. However, my surgeon is brilliant and saved my pancreas. Wonderful news as no longer need to inject insulin. So do I get medical letter attesting the op result or is it a feepay and box tick exercise to be able to drive my 6990kg motorhome again?

We would suggest requesting a letter from your doctor explaining the situation and confirming that the medical condition is no longer an issue. You can then apply to the DVLA to have the categories reinstated, but you will need to choose the correct form depending on your previous diagnosis - you can find the specific guidance on the goverment website here - www.gov.uk/health-conditions-and-driving/find-cond...z If you have any queries about the process we would advise contacting the DVLA directly for confirmation.
