cant get into our transit, we have not long had.
We have no spare key for the back up lock in the door., the electronic key is dead and is apparently charged while driving the vehicle.
We got a mechanic friend to look at it and he couldnt get us in, as the back up standard door lock, has been previously drilled.
We have called a key place and they told us to put the key in this bit under the bonnet but that didnt work.
How can we can we charge this stupid key?
Youtube suggested balancing on a toothbrush charger, but that hasnt worked either. Read more
I'm doing a partial rebuild on my Series 3 (gearbox, clutch, quarter chassis, brakes), and I've replaced the propshaft gaiters about a year ago while it was stillword counter sat on my drive. 6 months later, having doVidMate ne zero miles, I noticed that they'd split again! Replaced them again, anMobdro d just now I've noticed they've rotted again. Just under 6 months!
Hi, so I was going to replace my old 09 ST-2 this summer but with current events it might be next year now, however I have been looking at various cars and have narrowed it down to.
Audi A4-quattro 2.0l or possibly the V6 Diesel... Read more
looking at pictures online I was not to impressed with the interior of the Lexus or Volvo's I looked at if I am honest.
I am more than happy to look again if you can recommend any, same for the alfa romeo giulia, love the look of the outside but not so keen on the interior.
I have a Audi A3 1.6 2010 petrol With 95000 miles. The car struggles to get over over 4000RPM. Along side this, in low revs I can put my foot to the floor and it doesn’t go anywhere, especially and most commonly in second gear. When I dip the clutch it picks up again. The engine light is on. When I scan it, it comes up with a Cylinder 4 miss fire.
I used to get a oxygen sensor and a catalyst converter code when I plugged the car in. But since I've used some cat cleaner it hasn't come up again. Along side this I’ve had the car for over a year and it’s always burnt oil. I’ve read that this model is Notorious for burning oil but doesn’t have a PCV valve.
I have put a new ignition coil in, all new spark plugs and leads, I’ve cleaned out the throttle body. I’ve but a new fuel filter in and when I listen to the injectors at idle they all fire consistently sound good to me. About 6 months ago I had a new gear box and clutch put in. It's still coming up with a miss fire.
I’ve tried to be as detailed as possible. Any ideas? Thanks Read more
Please ping me when there is an answer to this. I've also been in touch with the audi chat.

Does anyone know if the DVLA are still open and would they be able to register the V5 in the normal timeframe?... Read more
Last weekend a friend took on on his fathers's car after he decided to give up driving:-
- Insured the car
- Transferred using the DVLA website https://www.gov.uk/sold-bought-vehicle
- Then taxed using the DVLA website https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax using the number from the green slip from his dad's V5
All simple and painless....
It seems that another American has come to grief near the RAF Croughton base in Northants, luckily this time only hitting a wall, not another vehicle. Does anyone know whether the American occupants of the base drive on the right, so that they can exercise their accustomed Jeep habits ? If so, it's hardly surprising that some forget after going off limits ? Read more
when in the army years ago I got a lift with a bloke just returned from Germany, straight out the base gate and proceeded on the wrong side of the road. His face was a picture when I screamed in terror.
I thought I'd put my experience with running 2nd hand Mercs on. I've had 5, 2 c220 diesels from 2000 vintage thought to my present 2012 slk 250d. The first 220 had my most expensive repair with £1000 going on some electrical fault. Apart from that the slk needed a £500 indicator stalk and a headlight which I know the garage doing the mot did. Apart from that it's been the usual tyres, brakes, servicing and usual mot things, wipers, bushes etc. I can't say Mercs have been more expensive to run than the other cars I have had and apart from the clk 320 petrol which drank like a camel but was great to drive they have been very economical. The clk went 5 years ago for the slk and is still running around on a w plate.
My 2011 E250d did 5 years and nearly 200,000 miles without needing so much a replacement light bulb. My 2016 E220d now has 140,000 on it and has been similarly uneventful and not even slightly needy.
I think it's one of those things where they cost a lot to fix if they do go wrong, but they don't go wrong much.
Hi, so the car front wheels seem to have a mind of their own, they follow any groves within the road, today i have also noticed inner Tyre wear on the drivers side do you think the wheel alignment is out? Read more
I would have thought the going-over a car gets in a proper MoT test ought to show up any wear of the kind you are suggesting, GB ?

You could be on the right track . The lights are controlled by the Bcm , if any short or overload on the circuit is detected, then the bcm will shut down that circuit . Tailgate wiring and to the number plate lights would be my first place to investigate.
Both those vids are on youtube and are almost 12 months old.
