Hey,
Sorry, sure you get this a fair bit. Need to get a replacement car in a hurry and just wanted some view as am not a 'car-man'. I've looked over this car for around an hour and interiors and bodywork incl. panels look really good. All latches doors switches and functions work. Engine has no oil/leaks or rust visible and only light rusting on underside of car.... Read more

It has been clear that the videos of DT have been "enhanced" by either using a lens filter or altering the white balance setting as various versions of the same video on different networks show different hues of orangeness.

A few months ago, I recall a poster on here querying why they weren’t getting much interest in a second hand car that they were selling as a private seller. Turns out that (if I recall correctly) they were asking similar money to the traders, who were advertising the same car, mileage and condition.
I’m starting to get my eye in on £8k-£9k cars, with a view to purchasing around August time. Surprised to see plenty of private sellers asking in excess of £1k more than traders, with no recourse for the buyer in the event of any immediate issues post-purchase and no form of warranty.
I’d have expected the private sale cars to be at least 10% - ~£800-£900 cheaper (on a like for like basis in terms of year, mileage, condition, service history etc) compared to those from a motor trader.
Am I just out of touch, having not bought a second hand car in decades?! Read more
I should think that's people who have taken their EV in for a part exchange, just couldn't believe how little they were being offered and decided they'd sell privately. They may have finance on them and are stuck in negative equity for the amount they're trying to sell for.
The increase in energy prices over the last 3+ years has stopped new EVs being the no-brainer they once were and there are more in circulation than the market can now sustain. Brilliant used buys for those that they suit and, presumably, heartbreak for those they used to suit...

Brand new tyres for the car was dunlop sport or something like that,, they are junk i throw them to the bin long time ago...Car without hail damage currently cost at least 30k or more, brand new costed at least 60-70k depends on the specs. My older car which is 40 years old cost 500gbp, which i drive daily.
Yes 20k is below market value yes, due to the hail this is how i got the car used for little less. i dont plan to repair the hail as long as it doesnt create for me more issues repair people told me insane prices for pdr + repaint of the whole car so i decided to drive it like that....

Thanks to a m**** taxi driver crashing into SWMBO’s Leaf, she now has a bright red, basic as you like Toyota Aygo on the drive. Which I have now pinched. I absolutely love a simple, lightweight, low powered font wheel drive car. It’s an absolute hoot.
As a trader I loved these wee things. They are brilliant little cars, they’re simple mechanically and rarely go wrong beyond clutches and the odd ball joint or drop link. Rust does eventually kill them, you do need to get underneath to check the rear subframe hadn’t turned to dust - though even this isn’t hugely expensive on these.
It’s been fun hammering that thrumming little 3cyl 1.0 motor down the road. They’re nimble, yet not uncomfortable though a bit rubbery. It’ll sit alright at motorway speeds and it’s managed 52mpg today according to the computer, despite me wringing its neck. They’re easy to park, cost buttons to run and I think they look quite good. I’ve missed wee cars. My Merc is utterly bland to drive and the (possibly deceased) Leaf isn’t any real fun either, beyond surprising the occasional boy racer in a BM away from junctions - it’s quick off the line.
Needless to say I’m a big fan. 107/108/C1/Aygo are good news for any dealer or owner, as long as you avoided the nasty auto or the wet belt 1.2 that was an option in the 108. The 1.4 diesels available early doors were hardy enough but pretty pointless when the sweet little Daihatsu 3cyl petrol can do 65mpg plus with ease and drives so much better. Read more
Since reading SLO s interesting article I have kept an eye on the number of Aygo and alternatives struggling with low torque on a junction near me.
alienating motorists following them who may wonder if the engine has stalled ?...
I need to half open the roof to lubricate etc but it won’t stay. Local dealers say a special tool is needed but won’t sell me one…too dangerous they tell me. Any ideas? Read more
The official MB tool costs around £200 . It’s basically an adjustable support bar with attachments at each end to lock it onto the roof and top windscreen panel . Most people seem to fabricate some kind of broom handle with brackets. Think the part # is 230 589 046 300 .
Hi guys. I've moved to Halifax, West Yorkshire and I'm wanting to know labour costs in this area from independent garages if I supply my own parts which i like to do so I can buy premium stuff.
I have a renault megane and a vauxhall zafira diesel.... Read more
If you want the best job done, then DIY. Plenty of YouTube videos.
With regard to buying premium parts, I don’t wish to cause offence, but those are both pretty mundane cars. They’ll run just fine on mundane parts. The main improvement is you’re putting new oil & filters in. The difference between a Bosch part and a Euro Car Parts own brand is negligible.
If you were running a high performance machine/s then go ahead and buy the best.
Most garages I’ve dealt with as a new customer are reluctant to put customer bought parts for reasons outlined. It’s the ramp availability. They won’t know a part is incorrect until the car is on the ramp and in bits. Then, it’s too late and they have to wait for the correct part to arrive. They lose use of the ramp.
Nope. these comments have me running a mile from it. Thank you
