cant get into our transit, we have not long had.
We have no spare key for the back up lock in the door., the electronic key is dead and is apparently charged while driving the vehicle.
We got a mechanic friend to look at it and he couldnt get us in, as the back up standard door lock, has been previously drilled.
We have called a key place and they told us to put the key in this bit under the bonnet but that didnt work.
How can we can we charge this stupid key?
Youtube suggested balancing on a toothbrush charger, but that hasnt worked either.

How old is the van ? Is it a black or blue key ? You should be able to open the drivers door with the metal key blade in the door lock .

it is a 2007 the door lock has been drilled by the previous owner, we were not given the spare key for that lock. Just the driving key.
I assume after looking into it, now, that they lost it.
It was only after calling a mechanic out to break into it for us, that we learned of all of this.

it looks like the old black standard door lock, not a security one.

It might be the main vehicle battery which is flat!.

The battery is under the driver's seat, however there is a jump starting and charging point under the bonnet. Think this will be what the key place meant.

There is a key slot on the front grill. Put your existing key in that and turn it one way to open the bonnet onto the safety catch (can't remember which way). Then turn it the other way to open the bonnet.

You can now try connecting jump leads under the bonnet. The positive terminal has a red cap over it. The negative goes onto a lifting eye on the engine block.

Now try the buttons on the key fob.

Replaced them again, anMobdro d just now I've noticed they've rotted again. Just under 6 months!
