I have a 04 Nissan Micra and have noticed that my right indicator quite often blinks faster than normal, this especially happens whilst using the brake at the same time. Also, when I am entering a motorway and building up speed the car starts to loose power when I switch on the right indicator on - it goes back to normal once I turn the indicator off. I have checked and changed the bulbs and contacts were cleaned. Does anyone have any advice? Read more
I suspect there is a problem with the connections to the rear lights.Check the plastic connectors that fit to the lamps .Very likely to be a burnt or overheated pins.

Please can anyone help? I need to replace the MAP sensor but dont have a clue where it is? Do I have to take the plate off underneath the car to access it? Appreciate any help/suggestions/pics. Thanks Read more
I think I will just have to bite the bullet and take it in to get the sensor done. Cheers for your replies to possible causes as I might get these checked if not the sensor. I dont have the 'know how' on cars unfortunately to sort things myself and cause bigger problems. Looks like my wallet is going to take another hammering! I do like my car though but might be a sign to update! Will keep you posted. Cheers
The European Accident Statement is strongly recommended for UK motorists travelling to continental Europe, and has been used for many decades. But what is its validity in the UK? There are many more foreign motorists on Britain's roads than in the 1980s, most of whom will probably produce the EAS if involved in an accident. Read more
I used an EAS on the two occasions my (Spanish) company car was rammed into, once while stationary at a junction and once in a parking space. It's a pretty good albeit crude system - each driver fills in his version with diagrams if appropriate and signs his own version of events. (There's space for one version on the left and one on the right and the whole form is in triplicate).
Each party submits to his own insurance company a copy of the two versions; in other words both insurance companies receive the two (usually differing) versions on the same page and try to sort it out between themselves.
An EAS is certainly better than nothing, but nowadays I imagine it would always be accompanied by several MBs of digital photographs from smartphones. I find it very frustrating not to be able to use a dashcam in Spain - utterly illegal owing to Data Protection issues. There is no automatic, inalienable right to film a person in a public place (or even his car number plate) as there is in Britain.

Been quoted £310 to do the suspension links and new discs and pads on an 08 Punto Grande (non franchise repairer) - how competitive does this sound? Read more
Thanks all. It's 2 discs.
Looks like I need another quote or two. The car is good overall so OK to spend some money on.
I ordered an ex demo stereo head unit (an Alpine) for mk4 mondeo.
On the above co. website it said it was compaitable with my car and gave a lead number. I ordered both- on plugging it in nothing- no power. So I took it back. The unit was OK as it worked in the shop. The guys there said they may need to run a wire from something that comes on with the ingnition or run a line from unused fuse box! I didn't like the sound of that too much so gave the unit back.... Read more
You are right, you need a Can Power adaptor. You know that, I now know that too now, my question is why are a major chain selling a stereo head unit with an off the shelf non-compaitable cable? It's bound not to work. That must cause annoyance/inconveneiince for the customer or themselves.

My car is a 2012 model with 25,000 miles and I have owned the car for six months. Shortly after getting the car I noticed that when changing down into first gear, when coasting in first gear and
when driving slowly in first gear prior to stopping there are clattering/clunking noises from the transmission. These occur under certain conditions when the clutch is depressed when in first gear. It is particularly noticeable and irritating when driving in stop/start traffic. Quite simply I depress the clutch when in first and there is a series of two or three clattering type noises. I have read somewhere that this could be due to the linkages from the gearstick to the gearbox. I believe that there may be two connecting rods that may be colliding with each other when changing down to first gear. I am wondering if other members have experienced this problem and if there is an easy fix. Have never had this problem on any other car and it is now getting me down. It may be that I should change the car for a VW Tiguan. Any help or advice appreciated. Read more
Hi MalDee,
Did you manage to solve your problem? I have exactly the same problem with noise coming when pressing the clutch in low speeds when I am in first gear.
Thanks for your reply.

Will Diamondbrite withstand high pressure jet washes?
Yes. But do remember it is a surface coating. So enough washes (or fewer very vigorous washes) and it will eventually wear off.
Planning a road trip in late June to take my dad down memory lane. Looking for best route Dundee>Tobermory for driving pleasure rather than just eating up the miles, but it's a hefty journey on the back of a longish leg to Dundee the day before so don't want to go down every little B-road or recreate a forest rally.
I drive V40 D4 these days so can get past slow stuff and I like to press on.... Read more
Thanks for that, I think Corran>Lochaline is the one, if there isn't a compelling reason to try the others.
I'll post a few thoughts when I've done it.
Yep it's booked in, just seeking opinions/advice in case this has been seen before.
