Hi Hope someone can help
Bought a new Isuzu Dmax just over a year ago and having some problems. The oil level is rising. Doing some reading on this apparently it's something to do with the DPF cyle and the fact I do a lot of short runs. Can't change my work so need to go on damage limitation. Had the oil changed once between services as I did not like the idea of diesel swishing about in the oil but the level is rising quite quickly and still not got to it's first service at 12000 miles. Now I have spoken with the dealer but they are not inrested just saying it's fine as long as it doesn't reach the max level on the dipstick. They checked to see if it had the "upgrades" and it had. This was a dipstick with the max level higher up! Where now?... Read more
Sorry should have said that the last 4000 miles have been much longer trips of 45min to an houre while towing. Yes prior to this more short trips but not all by any means. What warrany claim? They don't admit there is any fault with their trucks just lots of bad drivers for using them for what pickups were originaly designed to do. Admitedly a lot of todays pickup market is not work related just folks who like the image.

My son was out washing my car and his at 4.30 in the afternoon one Saturday on his day off from work and the neighbour came out accusing him of running a car washing business from the house which we aren't and started threatening him by saying he was going to the council. On another occasion he was washing his friends car. He's 20 believe it or not quite quiet doesn't drink, smoke spends his wages on his car it really is his only vice. He was using the hose and uses a bucket to hand wash we don't even own a pressure washer. It's really upset me as I don't like confrontation and I'd be the first to give him into trouble but he wasn't carrying on or shouting just washing his car with his 2 pals there. I don't know what to do about this. Any ideas. I live in a private estate with a double garage and double drive. Neighbours house is at the side. It's not a shared drive with them. The other time he was shouted at was at 3 in the afternoon. The couple don't work shifts. Read more

Hi all - I have Maxus flatbed with a fish and chip unit bolted on the back. At the moment I am having the following problems and wondered if anyone can advise what is causing them;
When I turn the headlights on there is a loud buzzing from one of the relays in the main fuse box (to the right of the steering wheel under the dash). Also at this point the indicators stop working, the windows wont go up or down, the interior light is very, very dim and the instrument panel lights don't work.
When the headlights are not on the indicators work, but nothing else.
Any ideas?
Thanks

What was the cause of the drain?
Hi
Hi wonder if someone could assist.
Have a problem with a 2009 (59 plate)Peugeot 309 1.6 diesel.
Picked this car up a weeks ago from an auction. (Mistake one I guess)
Anyway, car drives fine. After about a week car started displaying depollution faulty. Thought it could be blocked dbf or whatever so put in some Diesel Particulate Filter Cleaner and took it on motorway for about 15 miles. This seemed to do the trick and message disappeared.
I now have a ABS brake fault displayed permanently. I have taken it to my mechanic who says that it's a specialist job. The diagnostics state that it's the ABS pump - "stating recirculation pump electrical fault permanent." I have been reading frantically and seen some people saying that this might not be the ABS pump, but the control unit or brain for the car.
It isn't that I don't believe my mechanic as he spot on - states it's a specialist job and beyond him, so has nothing to gain. It is going to an "expert" next week, but interested as don't want to pay for replacement ABS pump if its the control unit.
Any ideas advice/ideas welcome - other than don't buy from auctions!!
All the best and thanks for reading. Read more
Hi
The engine management light has now appeared permanently!!!
Anti pollution faulty has now came up.
I'm trying to tax my new car online. The DVLA service cann't find details of my car so I'm unable to tax it.
I'm getting information about the 12 digit Doc Ref No is perhaps not the most recent log book number. The garage who sold me the car are reputible so I have no doubts there.... Read more
Sometimes, like all wonderful IT things, for one reason or another it doesn't work.
Take the V5C/2 slip to a Post Office - they seem to be able to tax anything with any bit of any old V5 these days.
Hi All.
A couple of nights ago on my way home from work, I was in a maximum speed limit single carriage way. There were 3 cars I was approaching sitting at approximately 25 mph. I edged out to the right to see if there was anything causing the hold up for example a push bike. There was nothing in front with no reason to be driving so slow. I indicated out to the right, as I passed the first of 3 cars, the 2nd cars decided it was also going to overtake pulling out without checking her mirrors straight into the front left corner of my vehicle.... No harm in resurrecting an old thread if there's something useful to add.
I'm afraid I don't understand all of what iSways is saying either - although I do wonder if the accident might have been averted if the lady hadn't been giving a curtsy (his last line).
Hi guys.

There was a recall on these, to replace an oil feed pipe to the turbo. I would be checking to see if yours was one of those affected and if the work was done. Ring your local Vx garage and ask them, they will know from the reg no.
Unlikely Vx will want to help you out though, not without any service history....
Hi,
I am having a problem with my nissan qashqai. When I am accelerating (most notibly on motorway above 50mph, although do feel slight vibration at lower speed) the car starts vibrating, it can sometimes be pretty bad. This only happens when putting power through the car, if I engage the clutch it dissapears. I can also hear a wheel bearing on its way out, but this may be as a result of the vibration. ... Read more
The problem seems to be from the flywheel or drive shaft, but I would sugest looking at the driveshat first.
Most likely you have a bad U joint, a bad driveshaft bearing or a cracked driveshaft vibrationa dampener
I hope to be buying a low to very low mileage Disco 2 in the coming weeks.
So what should I be looking out for?... Read more
I bought my year 2000 present Landcruiser 95 Colorado last Jan, the chassis looked rusty but still solid just surface rust which wire brushed stright off to reveal all solid, the bodies are very well protected from new.
My lad had been looking at Disco 2's for some time (cheaper than same year Landcruisers), he wanted one of the last batch with Isofix etc, he, like me gets straight under any potential vehicle before bothering even knocking on the dealer's door, he was shocked by how much and how bad the chassis rust he found on most, he had a good poke nose under my LC and pronounced it to be as new compared to the Discos several years newer...so Disco 2 idea scrapped, he wouldn't consider a Disco 3 because we know people who have dabbled to their wallet emptying cost....
This discussion has conflated into addressing 1 and 3 series models but in my case concerns a petrol 116i - 2007 model bought from a BMW dealer three years ago with 17,000 genuine miles showing. It was never economical and bated on acceleration when cold but otherwise is an exceptional car, if a little slow. A year last November issues began at around 25,000 miles when it began going into limp mode and several mystifying diagnostics resulted in a new throttle body, which did not cure the problem. The car still ran normally but prompted worries about cooling system sensors, blocked waterways, faulty ECU etc. Coincidentally or otherwise, my daughter was learning to drive at the time and practiced half a dozen emergency stops at around 30mph. The car threw its timing chain over three sprocket teeth and would not start. An excellent local garage, Simon Green of Horsforth cautioned this to be a common problem with all BMWs including 6 series models and that the manufacturer would not pay for it. His bill would have been £900+ The manufacturer did pay, on condition I took it to Stratstone Harrogate. I did not have a BMW warranty and Warranty Wise declined to cover the cost. The limp mode issues continued with over 120 annoying and at times frightening instances in the past year. More mystifying diagnostics proved that the throttle body repair had been unnecessary and finally BMW agreed to replace the Engine Wiring Harness free of charge, covering an estimated cost to me of £800. They put the limp mode issue down to poor crimping on the connections at the throttle and again their engineer at JCT 600 stated that this was a common fault on the 1 series. My research threw up the reality that this is a common fault across the range of models. Patience and the threat of consumer legal action to their Quality Assurance dept covered the cost of reapirs that could well have exceeded £2,000. BMW's reputation is currently better than their cars. On balance I am extremely disappointed, especially to find in my researches that these cars have plastic thermostat elbows and water pumps which disintgrate over time and block up waterways. Heat cycling also cracks header tanks. I guess best advice would be, if you can't extend to a model with a manufacturers warranty consider buying a buss pass. Not good.
