Vacuum comes from the vac pump,
spits to serve the brake servo and the turbo boost pressure sensor then to the turbo's actuator valve from there it goes to the turbo actuator.
Check for vacuum at all these point.
But you could be chasing the wrong thing.

I use Forscan which measures 'differential pressure on particulate filter' (DP_DPF) in kPa. To measure a regen I use a combination of EGT sensor readings (PPFT) and 'distance since last regeneration trial' (DIST_REGEN) which resets itself to 0.0km once a regen has been acheived. I did some live data scanning yesterday and was able to establish that the car is performing regens as should be.

I've heard that kPa readings for DP_DPF of <10kPa are normal readings, however the lower the better, however I've also seen info that says that <30kPa readings are considered normal. This has now left me confused as to what sort of readings I should be getting for a good DPF and bad one. From the live data scan yesterday I was able to see that at 1600rpm in 5th gear the DP_DPF reading was 2.5kPa, and when accelerating to 2350rpm in 5th gear the reading levelled off at 7.0kPa....

Proud owner of the new Vitara. Only downside is the repair kit instead of spare.

Quoted £150 for the spare wheel kit from Suzuki.

Anyone bought one? Worth the money?

Or can a wheel/jack etc be bought elsewhere that fits in the space the repair kit sits in and doesn't move about?

Personal moan of mine coming up.

Check to see if these require a tyre pressure sensor that would need to be fitted if you want to use this wheel without the tyre pressure warning light.showing. I would not expect it to have one supplied if you are only being charged £150....

I bought this new car about a fortnight ago now and was surprised at the recommended 'normal' tyre pressures.

When I open my driver's door, on the 'B' pillar is a sticker giving various pressures depending on load etc. as per usual. My 'normal' recommended pressure with two up is 35psi, which seems high to me and does make for a somewhat hard ride.
There is also a tyre pressure listed with an exclamation mark against it and in the user's manual, this refers to a 'Comfort Tyre Pressure' of 30psi for some models which can be used to some detriment in the fuel consumption. To my mind I think that this would make for a more forgiving ride on our appalling roads but wonder whether something between 30 and 35psi could be a compromise - say 32/33psi?
Initially the salesperson, on handover, didn't really comment on this but I was wondering if the higher pressures is something to do with trying to contribute towards the good fuel consumption achieved by these cars in addition to Start/Stop etc.
My model is labelled 'Bluemotion Technologies' but hasn't got the full spec. the true Bluemotion Golf has.
Any views. My heavier MK6 Golf on Michelins ran at 30 psi for 7 years but this new car is fitted with Hankooks! Read more

You're right of course, but to come back to your original question:

Unless you regularly carry heavy loads or backseat passengers, I would try the fronts at 32 and the rears at 30 and see how it feels.

Most FWD cars have a weight distribution of 60/40 to the front, so I like to have the fronts at a slightly higher pressure, with the rears softer.

I've done this for years as I prefer this setup to a harsher ride, even if it does mean a slight reduction in MPG.

Car companies don't want to know in my experience. Mercedes wouldn't on up to a fault only car even though I had loads of examples of it. You don't need a bullet but a magazine full to bite on.

Hi everyone, I have an issue I think may be related to either power steering or timing belt pulleys. I just got this old car from my sister and the noise is makes is whiney/whirry and gets more high pitched the more I accelerate. I've been told by a mechanic the power steering and wheel bearings also may need replaced soon but sounds like this car needs help now!

youtu.be/TXAF1scrXkU This is the car and noise

I can get the power steering done but I'm worried if I do, it won't change the noise it's making and that noise will be related to something else. It's highly noticeable and when I'm sitting stationery it just sounds like a whirring which made me wonder if it's a timing belt pulley issue? I'd appreciate any help or opinions I could get. The bearing in the timing belt tensioner would be my guess.

My Mazda3 1.6 petrol (mk1 Oct 2005 build) has recent had an issue where the biting point of the clutch is almost at the top (i.e. pedal not depressed) and its very difficult to smoothly change gear - either its a bit jerky and the revs go up a bit, then settle down again.

It accelerates ok in all gears, at least at the moment, though the accelerator pedal did feel a little spongy once last week. No burning smells or squealing from the car under acceleration, yet...... Read more

Any thoughts on my new questions a) and b)? The car's in tomorrow and I want to ensure the dealership doesn't just default to 'the pump's failed'. I checked the fluid level and it looked ok - just not much PAS available (the steering is heavier, but not terrible, yet). Maybe air in the system (small leak) or its gunged up?

I did hear this evening the engine slightly increase the revs when I turned the wheel a bit whilst stationary, but no normal 'whirr/whine' that it used to do when the PAS kicked in. Definitely more effort required than originally, just not as much as I would've expected had the PAS (pump) completely failed....

I am looking at buying a Honda CRV and have narrowed it down to a choice between a 14 plate 2.2 i-DTEC and a 15 plate 1.6 i-DTEC. Both are autos.

The price differential between the two is around £2500 and I'm aware that the 1.6 has the newer 9 speed gearbox and has 'slightly' better mpg. ... Read more

I looked at the 1.6 when I bought it but it was just a bit out of my price bracket really. The 2.2 is a good engine in its own right though to be fair, not the most powerful but good enough.

That's a big part of the reason that, ideally, I want to keep the car as long as it's hassle free. I think I'd be the unluckiest bloke on the earth if I managed to find a dodgy Honda but I guess even they exist....

I am looking for a new/ nearly new small 4 or 5 door car which is quiet on Motorways and A roads. At the moment I have a 2009 Hyundai i20 and am happy with its practicality ,reliability and its performance is enough for me. I find though that My ears are rather sensitive to noise and would like a car where I can listen to spoken radio and podcasts at a low volume on long journeys
Any suggestions? Alternatively is it possible to have soundproofing fitted , tyres changed or other measures Read more

Best thing to do would be to get out test driving. Superminis are very refined these days but you need to see what is acceptable to you. I find my Polo very relaxed at speed but it’s certainly noisy when idling.

is it possible to turn off the auto headlight feature on this vehicle the reason i askis i nearly had an accident when the headlights came on on a road with cars
