I really need a schematic diagram of this engine showing the names of the attached components , eg starter motor etc.
If you can point me to such a thing on the 'net, or even video such a diagram and post it on YouTube, I would be delighted. Thanks in anticipation. JT Read more

Easy question and one I have been pondering on for a week or two...
In a small village not far from where I live you leave a 40mph limit and go into a 30mph limit just prior to where the houses start. Over the last few months the hedges/bushes have been growing out and are now more or less completely covering the 30mph signs on both sides of the road. If you didn't know that they were there then it is reasonable to say that the average motorist would not notice them, they are pretty much hidden.
So the question is - If you were to get caught along that stretch of road speeding would it be unenforcable because the main 'change of speed limit signs' at the start of the limit are not visible? (There are no repeaters, just presumably the distance apart of the street lamps to give you a clue as to the correct limit). Read more
Ours aren't just covered by bushes but also in thick green slime. I recently reported that on the 30mph signs in our village the red had faded. Give the council their due, they fixed them within a week.
But direction signs they don't bother about, as there is no legal requirement to have them, so they just leave them. And there's one sign just on the entrance to Edinburgh on the A1 that was hit about 8 years ago - we're still waiting for the missing bit to be replaced! (It's also on the most weed covered section of the A1 - typical Edinburgh - spends millions on trams no one wants, and doesn't even try to make the main route into the city look decent.)
I feel a rant coming on................
The car has been idle for some months, then in the last few months pressed into service with long runs midlands to the lakes and back most weekends (250 miles each way (6K since April)), after changing appropriate oil and filters.
During one of the earlier runs a turbo hose blew off, and it was refitted, as a replacement provided by FORD against the serial number/VIN didn't fit.
I understand this hose has again had a problem (split in 4 places), and now three hoses have been replaced by new (due to the damaged hose no longer being in production).
More or less coincident with the second hose problem, the engine oil level has started to increase - now above maximum - and it is believed to be caused by diesel fuel in the oil.
Is this a known issue? I can't find it having searched all over the place.
I understand the mechanic intends to replace the high pressure pump (which has a cost near the value of the car).
What is going on here?
Is there another (cheaper!) thing to try first before the pump?
In anticipation.

I thought at first this was a common rail engine but I believe that the TDDI is DI but with a conventional pump, so you could get leakage from the pump into the engine - anyway, irrelevant now.
Hi,
I have broken one of the fuel quick release connections (HDI Engine) whilst removing them trying to change the fuel filter. Does anyone know if these can be replaced or is it now major surgery? Thanks. Read more
New fuel pipe assembly required. Shouldn't be too expensive nor difficult to fit.
what precautions are necessary if a vehicle is to be kept stationary outdoors and offroad without beng started longterm - lets say around 6mths.
Aside from removing the battery I suppose you have to drain the oil
and petrol, not quite sure how to do the latter?
Does it have to be on axle stands or not? Read more

An old caravanners' tip is to use a seed tray about half full of salt.
I put the reg no. of the C3 on retention last week prior to changing the car.
DVLA were, as usual, very efficient and the new tax disc and paperwork arrived yesterday. The old number was given back, I had kept the 54 plates and they were fitted and the tax disc changed. i rsng the insurers in he late morning and changed the reg on the policy with them.
Tonight, I thought I'd better check and to my surprise, the 54 plate shows uninsured and the old one shows still valid.
I don't need to use the car tomorrow but Erin Dors will need it am Monday. I have no certificate yet. Do I risk an ANPR pull or just carry all the docs appertaining to the transfer and hope for the best ? I'll be on the phone pronto Monday morning.....it's a bit slack of them when I asked specifically if it would be on Askmid later on Friday !
Anyway, went shopping today and bought a Black Nissan Note 1600 Auto for madame.
Hope she likes polishing !

Just come back on line after PC problems...sorted very speedily by the excellent Doctor Rattle...even though it was a bank holiday.....thanks again !
I know the car is legal, still not on the database tonight, but you could just come across the bobby who's having a bad day and doesn't believe you, as so many have done.
The car is going next week but in the meantime, all the paperwork will be in the car...including the insurers phone number.
Mrs Ted will be driving it, anyway, but it's me that will have to fork out the £105 if it gets a tug.

Good evening
I am thinking of buying a new Fiat Panda Active 1.1 Eco and apparently Fiat have just introduced a re-vamped version "Series 2" and I was wondering if anybody knew how this differed from "Series 1"?
Thanks

No part numbers but you might want to grab an old copy of the Jaguar Technical Information System from here:

It only covers up to the 2003 MY but does have the recommended procedure for removing and replacing front suspension.

Got a 51 reg courier van (fiesta) with a rumble on the O/S drivers side drive shaft,it's the bearing that's bolted to the engine. Can I repalce the bearing or do I have to replace the entire shaft?? I'm driving the van over to the south of Spain and this is very annoying as it's causing bad wheel wobble and vibration. Had it checked and it's defo the bearing. Forgot to mention, this van is a 1.8 TD. Read more
Don't really know about the Ford as I have never had to replace one, I would think you could just replace the bearing although it would probably be easier to replace the whole shaft. You should be able to get one from the scrappie if they are expensive new.
Yes,the engine turns off completely, either in reverse or in the drive position,
and for the vibration,it stops immediately its on N or P position.
i serviced about 3wks ago.Engine monts are ok.thanks.
