Hi all, (sorry if this has been asked before)
I recently bought an Almera from a franchised dealer. They didn't have the radio code but said they could get it if I needed it. I called them the other day to ask if they can obtain it. They said that they contacted Nissan but they don't keep it, but it can be found printed on top of the radio if it is taken out.
1) Do Almeras actually have a radio code?
2) If so, would I find it on top of the radio if I remove it? Surely that would be pointless as if someone steals it, they would have the code!
3) Is there another way to get the code if it isn't on top of the radio?
Many thanks Read more
Hi guys,
I'm thinking of becoming a trader and would like to know the legalities of doing so. I'm fishing around eBay and AutoTrader, and only live round the corner from BCA Blackbushe so popped over there to see what's going on. I'm very interested in getting a MyBCA card specifically so I can use online auction view for all BCA auctions!
I've found a few posts regarding tax liabilities for motor traders. An annual gross turnover of over 58k requires VAT registration, setting up own PLC and an accountant.
How does it work for trade plates, trade insurance?
Please any advice would be greatly appreciated! Feel free to email me at chodecz@hotmail.com many thanks! Read more
You won't get Trade Plates immediately either.
Hi there.
I have a problem with my car.It has done 57k miles i bought it a few months ago. I have recently noticed that sometimes the yellow glow plug light flashes intermittently when I'm driving.especially when the car is cold and 5 minutes after a cold start.
while the glow plug light is flashing the car feels like its lost power and there is no turbo boost. However when i turn the car off and on from the Ignition key the glow plug light stops flashing and the car drives fine.
I have a mate who works at Ford, and he checked it out on their diagnostics machine and he said that it says the computer is saying that the fault lies at the Delphi Diesel pump and he quoted me £1260 for brand new pump including labor. However they cannot guarantee that it is the diesel pump, but he said in majority of the cases they have seen it is almost always the diesel pump
I am just wondering if anybody else encountered this problem and can advise me further.
Thanks. Read more
Hello, please can somebody help me with an issue I have? I have a 54 plate (2004) TDci 130 BHP Mondeo, and last month my Glow Plug Light started flashing (and car went into limp mode with no turbo) when I put my foot down. I changed the Fuel Filter and all was well for about 2 weeks (1000 miles) THEN..... Glow plug light again when I put my foot down, and now engine management light is on. When I accelerate the car slowly, I have a light clackering between 2000 - 3000 rpm, and stil - if I accelerate too much the glow plug light flashes and limp mode returns again, until engine re-start. Yesterday, the engine idle became very, VERY rough, as if it is mis-firing??????? but when you rev in neutral, the mis-fire become less prominet (but you can still tell its there) Can anyone please tell me what is wrong?? :-( Thanx folks, Craig!
Google this site ,it is more than likely the EGR valve or the turbo activator .
A mate has lost his keys on his car so brought a key (all through legal channels at the dealer).
Now he needs to get the key programmed to the immobilizer.
Only problem is, he has to take the car to get the key programmed to the car at the garage.
Option 1, wife tows him to the dealer (40 mile trip - wife never towed before)
option 2, Somehow I temporarily bypass the immobilizer and mate drives car to garage himself.
So my thinking is that the immobilizer disables ignition and possibly solenoid to the starter motor.
so if i get power to the solenoid that allows power to both then the car is drivable.
any ideas, has anyone done this ? Read more
well my friend is going to call out a mobile key cutter and will also program the key without the car being towed at all.
costs a bit more though but well worthy it as no damage to towing car or possible safety issues.
thanks for the replies anyways.
Hello, I am new to this forum and looking for some help to fix my pug. Any help is welcome and I want to share my information as well.
I?ve got Peugeot 407 2.0 HDI with the depollution system faulty. Since that fuel consumption a bit increased and reveres sometimes dropping. After scanning with OBD2 scanner the following faults codes been found
P1435 ? Additive system fault (unfortunately I can?t scan additive ECU)
P0461 - Fuel Level Sensor Performance
P2408 - Fuel Cap Sensor
After cleaning fault codes P1435 only comes on after engine start, but after few more starts and other two comes again.
I did research and it is linked to additive system. Is P2408 relative to P1435?
I noticed when I remove the fuel cap (both magnets present) and put it back the additive system pump starts work in about 5min and fluid goes to the fuel tank (as I have disconnected additive fluid pipe from fuel tank to check) is it mean that fuel filler cap sensor and cap is not faulty? So why I?ve got P2408? Or it is need replacing anyway
Also I have removed and checked additive system tank and it?s half full of fluid, so do not need to top up.
The other thing where is fuel level sensor in this model? Is it possible to replace it separately or it is integrated in fuel tank?
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

Looking to see if anyone got a fix for this. I have a 307 hdi 06 plate and have had problems with the dpf for about a year now. So far have changed the turbo had fuel additive cap fault sorted and just had a new sensor fitted. Not had the dpf cleaned as live pressures were fine and was told it didn't need cleaned. But since fitting new sensor, one day and dpf fault and engine management light came back on next day??
I am sure many of you are aware, but some may not be that you can check the MOT history of a prospective car purchase for free. The history will show mileage at last and previous MOT's together with any issues picked up by MOT station (i.e. tyres close to legal limit). Handy to compare against miles shown on service history to see if any skull-duggery.
All you need is the registration number of the car and the document ref number on the registration document.
VOSA.gov.uk and go to online services.

Not sure why it would be spam. Just a helpful resource to users.

In short ilsonlad, stay away from the TDCi...but if you find a decent TDDi I'd give you the nod. It has been one of the best and most reliable cars we.ve ever owned...pity only for a short time. And stay away from Zetec trim...it just destroys the lovely ride and handling balance of the mainstream suspensions. Finding a TDDi will not only get you similar performance and much more reliability, but also similar fuel economy and a cheaper car. Engine noise is also remarkably similar although noticeably louder - just a touch. I miss that car like hell and the lucky owner who bought it still runs it after 5 years!
My son-in-law is begging me to go to Car Giant to look for a car with him. They seem to have a wide choice of cars, especially the sort he wants (3 series, A3 etc)
Anybody much experience of them and are they amenable to a bit of haggling? Read more
You get the hard sell at main dealers too
I had never driven a car with one of these pushbutton electric handbrakes before this afternoon. A friend turned up in a courtesy car (VW Passat CC) diesel with manual gearbox. He had parked it in a car park, nose in facing down to a shrubbery. He needed to reverse out up the hill.
So, thats when the fun started. In a manual car with standard handbrake lever, you get the clutch to biting point and slowly release the handbrake, whilst giving a bit of power on the acclerator. What do you do in a car which requires you to have your left foot on the clutch, right foot on the footbrake (which it needs to be before you can release the brake by pressing the button on the dash) and also need a third leg for the accelerator.
The answer in this case is use the torque of a diesel to help and use fancy foot work, but my friend who is a reasonable driver of many years experience was stumped and it took me more than a few seconds to work out what to do and get the car out of the parking bay. I did a little bit of damage to the shrubbery as well!
Clearly a very dangerous design, especially in a car with a petrol engine without the reserves of torque that were very handy. Whose stupid idea is this? Read more
Those of us who learned to drive 40 odd years ago tend to do that anyway! Saved the starter motor having to turn the weight of a heavy transmission with thick oil and broke the 'seal' that sometimes happened between clutch plate and flywheel
Depends what you used to drive! Those of us who drove BMC cars with those graphite release bearings learned very quickly that the clutch pedal was only ever to be touched when changing gear and then only for as little time as possible. Both starting with the clutch out and sitting in gear at junctions were to be avoided at all cost.
The alternative was chewing through a release bearing and needing a clutch job every 10,000 miles.
I've just been told by my local Ford dealer that the cambelt change interval on my 2007 Focus 1.8TDCI is 125,000 miles or 10 years.
125,000 miles! Thats the biggest interval I've ever seen for a cambelt - is that right? Seems a massive mileage. I'm on 75,000 now so I expected around 80-100,000 miles.
Are Ford making cambelts so reliable they can last for this mileage now, or have they made a mistake? Read more
Thats the problem with these things, conflicting information! You were told 100,000 for the 1.8 and I was told 125,000 for my 1.8 (even gave them the reg. number)
Perhaps I'll stick to the 100,000 anyway. I'm sure Ford wouldn't pay up if it snapped at 101,000 even if the interval is 125,000!
Nissan Radio Codes can only be obtained online at www.onlineradiocodes.co.uk otherwise you will need to speak to the dealership for you radio code. I got mine from the said mentioned website, it was a Nissan connect navigation system. got my code in a couple of hours, great service.
