Hi, thanks for the reply.
By 'tied into the nats security', do you mean that the radio will work as long as I have the nats keyset?
Maybe I should have been clearer before. What I'd like to know is, if the battery is disconnected, will I have to put in a code after to use the radio - or could it possibly work when i just put the nats key in the ignition?
I don't work to disconnect the battery to find out I need a code for which I will have to pay!
Cheers

I suspect you don't need to bother.
My '53 reg with the radio built into the dashboard doesn't need a code - to nick it you'd need to take a large proportion of the car.

no it wont work once you disconnect the battery
you should have a radio code on a card and you re input this once you reconnect the battery
sometimes old nissan radios worked as i guess the code had been sidestepped but i think it unlikely on your car
the reason the dealer told you the code was on the set was to get rid of you by the way,not a nice trick i hasten to add

or read bathtubs post
as i say not sure but nissans normally are linked into the ecu for the car as fitted at the factory

Sorry to contradict you. The OP's talking about a model around the facelift I think.
If you look at the CBC above, you'll find a picture of the dashboard layout and the radio's a part of the centre console with the display above the vents. It's not exactly something that 'slots out'. To nick it you'd need to take the centre console, so probably that's why you don't need a code.
Mine still worked after disconnecting the battery, but IIRC I had to re-load the pre-sets.

no problems bt if im wrong im wrong and youve proved it
a result i think :-)

Thanks for all your help.
I believe my 2002 is the face lift model, and like yours the stereo isn't a typical rectangle shape like the stereos you get in Halfords, but wider and looks part of the dash.
Hopefully that will mean I won't need a code like yourself.
I guess only by disconnecting the battery I will know!

Nissan Radio Codes can only be obtained online at www.onlineradiocodes.co.uk otherwise you will need to speak to the dealership for you radio code. I got mine from the said mentioned website, it was a Nissan connect navigation system. got my code in a couple of hours, great service.
