Might I recomend that all Forum readers take a look at yesterday's HJ Agony Column(19/12)--and read the tale entitled The Only Way Is Essex, re a simple incident in a supermarket car park which got out of control. I was absolutely horrified that fully grown up adults could behave in this way--but thankful that for once, the Police dealt severely. Had to jack the car up and put on the space saver spare the other day as the front off side tyre had a puncture.

Hi Andrew - the noise is very similar to the one you get when you use a glass cutter. It's that sharp cracking sound.
I drove 33 miles home from work yesterday and it didn't make the noise once. Went back out about an hour later.. and there it was again....
I've just had new winter tyres fitted on the origonal alloy wheels of my CTRV. I was advised that the tracking was incorrect so I had a 4 wheel laser check to correct the alignment. On the first straight road after the fitting the "check tyre pressures" warning light illuminated. The tyre pressures were correct, the garage reset the warning from the drivers seat.
Is it normal that tyre changes trigger the warning system. Why should the warning system activate? It hasn't previously activated. Read more

How do other drivers know which car you're flashing - the 2nd car may have thought you were flashing them ?
Exactly. There's a junction on the A56 near here (in a small town) where many drivers seem to make up the rules, just to 'help' another waiting. Quite often this causes confusion and hesitation, thereby increasing delay for other drivers....

Many SUVs need a high-lift jack because of their extra ground clearance AND longer wheel travel.
The owners manual should identify the only places to use a jack....
SUV's have large heavy tyres 18" to 21" which are heavy to lift on and off an axle in your best suit or jeans.
Use a latex tyre sealant to mend your flat tyre and no mater how much tread is left I hear the tyre cannow be repaired.... Read more

I have a 2005 MK5 Golf 1.9 TDi 105bhp and can hear a 'chatter' noise once the accerlator is relased. I fitted a new boost pipe to the turbo (just after the pancake pipe) which seemed to have fixed the 'hiss/whoosh' noise which was more obvious previously, but since then I have been hearing a chatter.... Still havent got to the bottom of this noise. I removed the plastic thing but it was already on tight and the noise is coming from inside it, although there is actually noting inside it. It only appears to be where air is drawn in before reaching the airbox?

My main dealer serviced up to last year Mazda 5 with 55k miles has started using oil at quite a rate recently. I took it to a good independant garage and they reckoned the turbo could be on the way out and is likely the reason of the oil use as there are no other signs of leaks etc. ... Read more
