Can anyone tell me what these are like to live with? The only think that puts me off is the basic interior as your sitting in it for a few hours a day.
Anyone got an estate version? What do you think of them? Read more
I have a renault laguna sports tourer (54 plate) and I am none too happy. Things keep on going wrong, the latest is the turbo actuator. I would like to flag to renault in the strongest possible way that their car stinks and it appears to be not only me. What can be done about this? It is getting to the point that the thing is unsafe. Your issue is with the dealer, take it back as it's presumably still under warranty.
Hi
We're looking to get something sporty, not just to drive, but also to look the part. We have a 9 year old child, so some semblance of rear seats would be useful, although we do have a Yaris. Reliability is fairly important.
There are Celica 190s for under £10k on Auto Trader, and it gets a very good write up on the Car-by-Car Breakdown. However, I know the engine needs revs, and other sources suggest the noise can be tiresome.
Others we have considered in the sub-£10k price range are the previous model Leon Cupra (possibly not as reliable as the Celica?), the Impreza WRX (wrong image for SWMBO), and not much else. The new car would replace a previous model Accord 2.0 (which has been very good).
Any comments/suggestions would be very welcome.
Cheers

I dont know about you but from my 30so years in the garage trade sounds like your thrust bearing is on its lasts legs so I suggest a quick trip to your local garage and show them[megrandad] however when you are driving along and it crunches going int a specific gear then gear syncro fault is evident and to do just one sybchro assembly is about £300 to £400 trust me I have just done one for a customer[megrandad]
Not an advert, just personal experience on Friday last.I searched the web for car ins. on Google. The best by far was the Post Office. For a 20002 Focus 1.6 Zetec fully comp.Rac recovery up to and inc.onward travel, protected 'no claims',Motor legal protection.£150 excess.Total £263.74.Plus within 28 days you receive a Postal Order for £50.I have no connection with the POI think this takes some beating. Yes,I go along with what you say.I was surprised at the RAC, cover that standard is about £117. buying direct.
I have a C4 VTR+ 1.6 (110) diesel.
I try to drive in (what I believe is) the most economic fashion. i.e. don't race away, into 3rd at about 20mph, 4th at 30mph, and 5th when it doesn't feel laboured.
Car has done nearly 6000 miles from new. Can't better than 37mpg round town. In addition, can't better than 55 on a run sticking to the 70 mph on a motorway (where I use cruise control) Aircon is usually on.
Are my expectations too high? Read more
I would just like to point out two great pages to check on this subject, a matter close to my heart having to fill a 2 litre focus!

My personal best is an average 50.4mpg over 35.1 miles (about 26 miles M4 motorway, rest town).
My continental eco contact tires help, as does following articulated lorries on motorways (the correct safe following distance - you shouldn't be able to read their numberplate!, and you will be amazed at the difference the slipstream makes to your consumption).
Pretend the accelerator pedal is an egg and don't stamp on it or you'll mess up your carpets!! and avoid the brakes at all costs, they are only there for emergencies, use your engine and excellent forward planning to slow.
Air con also makes a huge difference to consumption, working the A/C on full cool on a hot day will see 6-8mpg dropping off.
mk 2 vw polo 1988..old style mechanical cam driven pump
i replaced the fuel pump last year as it was damp...just latley the car has stunk of fuel , but i could never find a leak....well i found that the pump leaks like crazy for about 1 min then stops
is it normal for a pump to fail after a year?
could i have mistreated it in someway to cause a failure...or any other car issues that could cause it to leak?
oh and is it normal that it leaks for 1 min the drys up?? Read more

Hi,
I am looking for a new family car with some boot space (so looking at estate models). Safety being the priority and size vs space, I am looking at the new focus and astra estates.
Problem is, I need an automatic for the wife, and can find NO auto reviews of either car. All I have learnt so far is stay away from CVT version on the focus, but they do seem I think to do a normal auto box version also.
Has anyone tried or do you know anything about the auto boxes on these cars?

The Granada, depending on age, would have had a BW35 or a Ford C3 autobox-both hugely reliable;most FWD autoboxes are now JATCO(japanese auto transmission co.)not quite as good.
Apologies if i have missed anybody mentioning this but from tomorrow "morethan".com/drivetime. are piloting a cheaper insurance scheme for anyone between the ages of 18 and 25 the only stipulation being that you cannot drive between the hours of 11pm and 6am withouy being fined £25 everytime you do it.
Yes i know NU did and probably still do a similar scheme but anyhing to keep insurances down to the sensible drivers amongst us is for the common good........
i thank you............................(no i have absolutely no connection with them) Read more

Just come back from a fantastic weeks holiday in Dorset. My first visit and I can recommend it.
This country has some fantatsic coast line and beaches (Studland Bay in particular)
Problem was all the stuff I rammed into the Accord (I knew I should have had the estate).
I am considering a roof box and will probably buy a Kamei box with Altea bars.
The question is do roof boxes effect stability of the car at motorway speeds ?
Can anyone that uses them please let me know. Read more
I have just put the roof box away, one key is staying on may car key ring and the other is in the box with the roof bars.
you could try asking on www.briskoda.com but you'll get a very biased answer.
