I have just got off the phone to my local Honda dealer to ask the price of a Honda Accord 2 litre petrol ES saloon.
The ES is the base model with 16 inch wheels and standard suspension. All the other models come with sports suspension and 17 inch(or larger) wheels.
After trying the sports suspension i decided it felt too firm for my tastes and so opted for the smaller wheels and non sport suspension.

Anyway i digress.

I have been told that there are no ES models that i can order and the factory are not even producing them.So even as a factory order i cannot get one!.
The only option now is a second hand one or pre-reg model(which are very scarce).I cannot believe that Honda advertise the ES and yet you cannot buy it.

What do you guys think? Read more

Not without precedent with Honda, they list (or did before the recent facelift) a current model Civic S 5 Door (n.b. not the S-type 3 Door), poverty spec without aircon, no integrated radio and steel wheels sans trims. I've only ever seen one example (funnily enough in one of my company's carparks). The model is not even described in the brochure or website but does appear in the price lists.

There are two vaccum pipes on the egr valve, one that operates the butterfly valve the other operates the actual egr valve. Does anyone know which one goes where? Read more

Since I bought my car about 6 years ago, the coolant has been a sort of brown colour, instead of pink. I've changed coolant lots of times, flushed it a number of times with water / flush until it all runs clear, but the brown colour always comes back.

A brown substance coats the inside of the header tank too, which can be removed with a bottle brush, and I think all the pipes are also coated on the inside.

I want to sort it once and for all. I am going to take off all the pipes, and use a bottle brush to clean them - but what about the radiator? What can i do with that - can it be cleaned internally with some sort of chemical?

TIA

I'm not sure what the original coolant was, but I imagine it was G12 (pink), and the previous owner has put in some non-compatible stuff, or allowed corrosion due to weak concentration.

Cabin heating is fine, and has been for the last 6 years (my ownership), and the brown coolant has always been there.

Its not sludgy, just brown. Its stays pink for a little while after changing, but ends up brown. I had a new engine about 50k miles ago, so i think most of the 'brown stuff' is in the radiator.

Does anyone know if the front seats are interchangeable? I'm thinking about the seat belt connector. Read more

They are definitely not interchangeable left to right if that is what you mean. One issue is the position of the side air bag. However they can be swapped from another similar car.hth

Here's another daft question or is it?

Is there such a thing as bullet proof cars or bomb proof?

We have all seen james bond's car take hits and they bounce off but can they for the likes of our prime ministers car or the queen etc?

I suppose they can be blast proof with reinforced floors with cavlar is it? in the doors roof lining is this what is fitted or armour plating?

Is there bullet proof glass?

Just interested in this not going to make one or try to get around one.! lol............... Read more

I recently checked my oil cap and found a white substance on the oil cap, is this a sign of my head gasket going??

I would not worry about this, it is a winter occurrance. You will be lucky to get the car hot enough to get rid of it . I reckon it affects lots of cars , but owners never look at oil filler.
I have it on my Skoda (petrol ) but it is not leaking coolant. A better check for HG is whether the car is using coolant, or putting out a lot of steam from the exhaust.
