Ok so I have had problems with my 06 plate Focus diesel for a while now.
After several mysterious limps home on longish journeys, and each time the garage not finding anything that they thought was a problem, something weird happened.... Read more

Ive had an intermittent non start with this vehicle for a while now (more evident when I were in the vehicle for a long period with the engine off) and purchased an OBD II scanner to find error codes P1934,U0073 and P0500.
Ford told me that P1934 is not generally defined but is in the transmission category.... Read more

First you have to remove the headlamp unit by removing the screw holding it on the top bracket, there are two retaining plastic hooks on the bottom of the unit which you have to press down to release , not mentioned in handbook. Once removed disconnect the electrical socket , by pulling the small clip towards you as you pull the socket.
Remove the sidelight rubber cover , note it is marked with yellow paint to help you to refit it in the correct position. You will see a long plastic , fragile looking blade attatched to the side of the side light bulb holder, you need a small pair of long nosed pliers to grip this blade , gently in small movements turn it clockwise to allow it to be removed, note , there is not a phillips headed screw retaining the bulb holder, it is simply a twist and pull locking method of retaining the holder.... I've taken my 1998 Skoda Octavia 90bhp to just over 200,000 with very few problems. I'm looking to buy a prePD or PD engine A6 which has covered around 130,000 miles and run it to over 200,000 miles.
Has anyone else any experience of doing this and were there any problems? Read more
In 2004 I bought a 1996 A4 110tdi with 59k miles. I had to change for something bigger in 2007 and it had 90k miles on. I sold to my wife's uncle who has had no problems at all since and it now has about 160k on it.
The plastic clip that keeps the lid down on my dashboard storage compartment, Focus Ghia 2006, has broken off completely. I wondered if i could get a replacement lid online anywhere, and if it is easy to fit?
Thanks Read more
Same problem here, Rather than spend money on a replacement which will eventually fail due to its poor design, I removed the complete box as above starting at the right hand corner and working my way to left side using nothing more than a couple of flat bladed k****** knives. after removal i removed spring and re-fitted box. To facilitate easy opening i stuck a small self adhesive catch to centre front of lid top. hope this helps.

The gearbox reset as has been suggested is certainly worth a try, but it is unlikely to resolve the problem since the learning part of the gearbox shouldn't be able to learn to kick like that! That would suggest poor software development.
If your extended warranty is with BMW then I think you need to be more forceful with them to get them to resolve the problem. If they wish to experiment with oil changes then that should be their responsibility, perhaps just charging you for the oil, should it work. There is a significant chance that the oil change won't resolve the problem so you don't want to pay for that and still be left with the same problem. ...
Here is a statement about antfreeze from one of the UK's largest suppliers.
Antifreeze / coolant used to be simple, you tested the fluid with a hydrometer & if the reading showed too little Antifreeze / coolant you topped up or replaced the fluid. ... Read more
Difficult to find anything like that out here. No one will know or care, and the packaging is all in Chinese.

Go somewhere else. You'll probably have to pay, but at least you'll have peace of mind. If a fault is found you can then present the evidence.

Rubbish!!!!
If your car has a DPF additive is injected every time you open your filler flap, doing as you suggest will deplete the additive in a short period of time, and contribute to early DPF failure, only fill your tank when it is almost empty, note I say almost, not running on fumes. Your additive will then last longer and so will your DPF.
Honest John gave this advice years ago, I have followed it and have had no problems.
