My son's Astra 1.6 SXI 52 plate has its amber engine light come on and then flashes and goes into limp mode, easy fix you would think. Firstly we had the car in a garage and ecu fault codes checked, came up with coil pack, I replaced that but no difference found, booked it into Vauxhall main dealer garage and they diagnosed the coil pack.
They replaced the coil pack and plugs suprise suprise still the same, they then said it was the ECU so they tried that, Oh oops still the same, next came the big suprise sorry we're stumped so there we are still stuck only saving grace is he's only had to pay for 2 diagnostic's, the car is back on its origonal coil pack.... I purchased around 5 weeks ago a 2004 silver Mondeo Zetec 2.0TDCi 130, with the 6 speed box, 62k on the clock and full service history. The car is a dream to drive, and I am getting great fuel economy from it.
Since I purchased the car I have changed the oil and oil filter, changed the air filter, and done all underbonnet checks to make sure its ready for winter such as greasing the battery terminals, checking all wiring is secure etc..... Read more

Hi Andy
It is not a common problem but yes, it does happen. It is not that serious. Usually, the filtre that lets the air into the injectors gets either dirty or perforated. ...
i have found a cheap and reliable way of repairing my x-trail. the symtoms were as it would suddenly go into limp mode and i would turn off the ingition and back on again and it would be fine for another few miles until it done it again. a nissan dealer told me it wa about €2000 to replace the fuel pump and it would sort out the problem. i took out the fuel pump and i looked at it closely to see how it worked and what could go wrong. on the side of the fuel pump there is a silver switch in a barrel shape held on by two small bolts and this switch is a fuel pressure switch. i found a deisel switch supplier and the switch cost me €93. when i fitted the new switch it had to be programmed by a nissan computer and that cost me €25. the problem is cured and its never happened again in over 50000 kilometers. its a lot cheaper than a whole new pump at €2000. Hi there, I read your message quite some time ago & i'm back again!!
Problem started with same symptoms as yours... going into limp-home mode.. turn off ignition & start again..problem gone.. until next time. It was always a good starter but then it would take a few more cranks in mornings to start & then a few minutes to run sweet. Then i can't quite remember... it either didn't/wouldn't start and/or he changed the fuel filter & it has never started since!! ( By the way,, we're both quite experienced with older diesel engines & mechanical things!!) That was months ago now. We have tried various things but to no avail. Yesterday, still suspecting the low-pressure pump i disconnected the fuel line on the engine side of the filter & tried with ignition on & cranking the engine to see if there was fuel pumping up to the high-pressure pump..... Not a drop!!! Not knowing what is actually meant to happen at start-up i don't know whether this is correct or not!! I suspect that fuel Should be pumping through!! Our trouble is that we are over three hours from nearest city with a Nissan diagnostic machine AND heard stories that machine often doesn't pick up the problem anyway!! Six hour round trip for that does not inspire my father at all.... or me tbh!! We tried the local garages one but it didn't "speak" correctly to the car, so none the wiser!!...

I recently had a similar knocking noise from the suspension in my mk4 golf which became annoying when driving on poor roads. My local mechanic correctly diagnosed the antiroll bar bushes. I watched the mechanic change them and compared the ones he took off with the new ones and there was approx 2mm difference in the internal diameters of the holes. Bushes cost £10 for the pair and brackets about £12.00. Has transformed the handling and the steering feels more direct. Well worth the spend.
Hi I have a vauxhall corsa 1.2 twinport ( Reg: 55 Model )

A misfire code should be accompanied by other codes which should help in diagnosis. This canister, is it the charcoal canister which is part of the emissions equipment, situated in the driver's wheel arch, or the fuel filter? I thought you could take the charcoal can off and throw it away to no ill effect.
Usual suspects are MAF, EGR, and various sensors, all of which would post codes. Maybe not the MAF. This would be my first port of call.
Could be injectors but I'd expect a code.
How much oil is it using? The oil control rings are very weak and prone to failure especially when oil changes are not carried out. Oil being sucked up and dumped on the spark plugs will cause a misfire and no other codes.
However, two cylinders at once is unlikely.
Otherwise, poor connection, poor earth, somewhere, maybe
