Here's a nice one.
On 'Modern Antiques' tonight, Alan Titchmarsh and James May drew comparisons between the original Mini and the Steve McQueen/Bullitt Ford Mustang. Which was the better car, they asked the studio audience.
Seems to me there's no contest. Could the Mustang (with or without McQueen) have done The Italian Job? Read more

Mappy, Perhaps just good enough to put a ladder up and assist your quaking body down in the event of a fire when the next firemans strike takes place...
After all thats why we have kept them. (not just your body of course) and why are we flogging them off.........
Hi, I have just bought a ford mondeo 2.5 V6 Si hatch 1998, I have no owners manual, does anyone know the correct tyre pressures for my car?
it is fitted with the original alloy wheels and low profile 205/50/16 tyres, at the moment they are all at 30Psi but look on the soft side
thanks in advance

Rob>> Rob,
Radial tyres *always* give the impression they're underinflated.
Are you sure your gauge is accurate? What are you using
to check the pressures? Might be worth while checking with another
one to confirm.
i am using a new digital guage so it should be ok?, i will inflate them to 31Psi i think

Seems to be the day for omega questions...so heres mine
just recently when I switch the lights on I get the warning message "headlight taillight" when I check all lights are working correctly,if I switch them off and on again the message reappears and you guessed it the lights are all on!!!
Any ideas? Read more
I'm getting this message occassionally. I'm sure it's down to a
wonky earth or similar as all bulbs are on. I've been
getting the message since my tow bar electrics (whic are connected
via snap connectors) shorted everything completely last year.
Now, what I've noticed is that the rear indicators are starting
to look quite white - but the bulbs are still yellow
looking. I hope I won't need new lenses for the MOT...
(I guess there is a paint to paint your lens covers
inside?)
It will be the bulbs that are loosing the colouring on the glass envelope - not the lenses. I bought a pair of yellow bulbs for £1 or £2 just in case but haven't used them as yet.
It keeps blowing fuses (10A), instantly when I turn the lights on, non-intermittantly.
But why?
I have headlights (dipped and main), nearside sidelight and offside tail light.
The offisde sidelight, nearside tail light and all dashboard illumination is off except for warning lights, etc.
The light indicating that the headlights are on doesn't come on, and the clock usually illuminates and dims when the lights are turned on, it's stopped doing it's dimming.
The sidelight and tail light bulbs are all ok, as is the relay. Read more
I'm not sure about that.
The daylighting is DRL, like Volvo's, meaning the dipped beam lights are always on.
The relay that I found causing the problem was one which controls a lower voltage going through the dipped beam, for when the sidelights are on on their own.
Traffic news on local station today says 'accident has blocked both lanes on A*** eastbound, westbound traffic very slow due to rubberneckers'
Now what annoys me about this quote is i think that we're actually encouraged to speed! .. and in an accident zone!
Do the authorites really want us to charge through there at 70/80mph when a more appropriate speed would be safer just in case incident could spill over into opposite carriageway?
I *hate* the term rubbernecking* Drivers being cautious and safe slowing down in accident zone is more appropriate.

safe and cautious in an accident zone - my a**.
Oh Mark! you have a way with words.
Think about your quote.. being safe and cautious around an accident area is wrong? and so is rubbernecking?
Dammed if you do and dammed if you don't.
It's rare you hit on a product that really does what it says!
I just used a Gliptone kit on my drivers seat which had worn slightly in places. The leather looks as good as new and, using their conditioner on the rest of the leather, the car now has that new leather smell.
5 stars.

I've found Megiuars Cleaner & Conditioner to be quite good. Only thing I don't like about it is that the smell doesn't last long :(

Having to drive through this twice a day, I'm getting just a little fed up with drivers who seem to think that the 40 limit does not apply to them. I could't care less if they want to speed through at 50 or 60 but to try and force other motorists to break the limit by aggressivly tailgating, flashing lights etc, is just taking the biscuit. Its made worse as its not always easy to switch lanes at rush hour due to volume of traffic. Unfortunately this sort of behaviour will only stop if they start some regular traffic patrols up and down this stretch. Read more
Which would mean you would be breaking the law trying to get out of the path of the maniac behind you who wants to do 60 in a 40.
My 1.4 Corolla has developed a whine fro the engine; according to the garage that checked it, due to the aux drive belt having some wear. Question - is it safe to continue running the engine ? They reckon the aux drive belt only connects the power steering pump and alternator. It's done 150K now. Read more
