Hi I bought used VW Golf in April from car dealer not private seller and still haven't received V5C document. So I filled out and sended V62 form and I added New Keeper green slip. But problem is I forgotten to actually fill out green slip. So new keeper details were blank. Of course I put all details in V62 form but is there gonna be problem because green slip was blank? If yes what should I do now? I sended V62 almost 2 weeks ago and still haven't received anything. I took a photo of green slip and still have purchase agreement from dealer. Read more

I noticed that the air con is only working on the highest number 4 setting when I got in my wife’s car this morning. 1,2 and 3 not working and no blowing at all. The red air con on light also goes out when it is switched from 4 to 3. Any ideas what it might be please? It’s a 1.0 tfsi 2017 model. Read more

I can’t see anything at all electrical in the footwell behind the glove box so assume that the latter needs to be removed to get at it.

Found a few unopened bottles of Redex Petrol Treatment at the back of my Dad's garage. Probably at least 10 years old.

Is there anything in it that goes off over time?... Read more

Check out the 5th Gear tv show piece on improving MPG and engine running, it shows that Redex does indeed work.

Bought this car a couple of months ago to replace a 14 year old astra which had a few issues, although it has been good during the 8 years I'd had it.

The new car is a 2018 pre face lift 1.2 se. It cost me £8100 and is a one owner used approved with 25000 miles.... Read more

I think s lot of cars suffer from juddering on first start of the day, possibly from condensation sitting on the clutch/ flywheel overnight. This juddering however was nothing like only first start up and was so violent at times that it made me worry about the exhaust breaking or an engine mount failing.

Good afternoon folks.

I've owned this car for a year and a bit. Bought privately, so no comeback. It has shown the fully blocked symbol several times since it was purchased and I have had the following done.... Read more

If you can get to the glow plugs when the engine is idling, a good way to free them off is to let the engine get hot at idle and unscrew the plugs a little, then retighten gently while the engine is running, repeat a few times per plug to free the carbon from around the plug. Get an assistant to rev the motor a little while you are doing this, the combustion pressure shock and hot engine help a lot to free them off.

Never-Seez on the new plugs when replacing them will ensure they will come out next time....

Hi,
My partner wishes to change the i10 for a new A1.
I have explained the car is no different under the skin and not too different in the cab compared with the Fabia / Ibiza / polo.

Is the A1 worth the extra layout compared to the others?

We are not into badges nor into prestige.

The model we are looking at is the 1.0 TFSI 25 manual

Best price I can find is £17,600

If you think that VAG use a single supplier for pads and discs, that's fine. If you think a VAG official pad or disc supplier source their products from a single factory, that's also fine. Who am I to argue Skidpan?

This reminds me of a chap who wrote to Honest John about a new Audi he had just bought, think it was an A3 1.4 TSi. He was shocked when he found out that the engine in the car was actually made by Skoda, he wanted a superior product having bought an Audi and was not happy having some Skoda content. He asked about the possibility of taking Audi to court since he believed it would affect his long term enjoyment of the car....

Hi, I have a six month old Honda CR-V Hybrid (2020) with 10k on the clock. At 8.5k the oil warning light came on when going round a motorway junction loop and checked the oil level which was on the minimum mark, so topped up to the correct level. I thought oil was thrown out with centrifugal force while going around the loop and thought it a bit strange for a Japanese engine to leak or consume oil.

Today while driving at 70 on a straight piece of motorway the oil light came on again so thought it very strange to have low oil level again after only 1500 miles. I stopped and found the oil level below minimum.

I took the car to the main dealer who supplied the car and voiced my concern to be told that the engine uses 1 ltr of oil per 1000 miles. So going from full mark to minimum in 1500 miles is OK. I knew ther were no leaks as the driveway where I park the car is clear of any marks.

I must say I find this very strange and I can’t believe that this is acceptable. Buying a hybrid to help do my bit saving on petrol usage to find I’m pouring burnt oil out the exhaust into the atmosphere is not a good trade off.

Prior to this car I’ve had Land Cruisers and I didn’t put a drop of oil in the engines between their annual service and approx 10-12k mileage. It looks like we’re going back to the old leyland engined cehicles that burnt oil faster than petrol - yes I had one that took 1/2 ltr of oil in the engine every time I put £5 of petrol in the tank. Any thoughts or has anyone else been told this by Honda? Read more

When you say the oil warning light came on do you mean the oil pressure light ? or does your car have a level light.

What you need to do is make sure the car is on a flat surface and fill up the oil to the max then drive the car for 1000 miles then check the oil and see how much it has used you will then know what the consumption is. Have you been checking the oil or did you just wait until a light came on then checked it because if you are waiting until an oil pressure light to come then the engine will be damaged. If you read the handbook it say check the levels oil and water etc every few weeks. So many people drive cars but never check the levels or tyre pressures and then seem surprised when problems start.

Bit late to add but if you do see this in time, avoid Dartford Crossing if you can. Getting through without delays is a lottery, northbound with tunnels (not bridge) always worse. Also remember to go online to pay the toll, £2.50 for a car.

Had my 2019 Hyundai i30 serviced today by main dealer- 2nd year 'major' service. Included a 'clutch/brake' fluid' change. For previous cars I've owned, I've always been asked if iI wanted a brake fluid change and, if I declined, the price quoted over the phone, was suddenly reduced from £39.99 to £19.99.

Today, I wasn't given the choice andbrake/clutch fluid change was also included in the invoice. I want to protect the Hyundai 5 year unlimited mileage warranty but is a clutch/brake fluid replacement really necessary with just 9k on the clock? I only checked the bill when I got home. Why would the brake/clutch fluids changes be itemised in this way?I've never had a clutch fluid replacement. Does a clutch need fluid?... Read more
