Hi new on so here go's
I have a Peugeot 406 diesel Est. it was running fine up until 4 weeks ago then it started to cut out when i put my foot down a little on the motoway, i pull over sat for 5 mins then it started again, it slowly got worse over 3 weeks, then one day on my way home from work it just stopped all together, also when it cut a light came on the one for the fuel injection one, so i was told it could be the relay for the glow plugs, i change that, then i put new glow plugs in it, i changed the fuel filter and it still wont start, i,ve now been told it could be the fuel pump in the fuel tank.
I dont no if anyone can help me, it will go if i toe start it, but when you put your foot down it cuts out.
do you think if i change the pump in the fuel tank that would sort it out. Read more
My remote fails to unlock the passenger door. Other doors and boot seem fine. Passenger door can be opened from inside. Any clues if I am doing something wrong, or do I have a remote locking problem. Both keys have good batteries Read more
I have a Peugeot 306 HDi 1999-reg with a 30-fuse fuse box. The ignition light does not come on before starting and does remain on while the engine is running. The clock no longer displays. I can't see any other faults. I have replaced the only blown fuse which is at the bottom right (number 30?) and it blows within a few seconds of turning the ignition on (until it blows, the ignition light comes on before starting, as expected).
Is the car safe to drive, subject to lack of rear wipers, clock etc that are apparently controlled by this fuse, or will the car be running off the battery and not charging the battery? Read more

Good suggestion. The relay doesn't sound as if there's any water sloshing around in it. Unfortunately I can't unplug the blue relay from the black connector (which is almost as big!): the spade terminals don't seem to want to shift and it's difficult working on it when it's about six feet in the air. OK, I could get in the boot and work on it with the tailgate closed, I suppose!
I imagine a new relay would be a lot cheaper than a new motor, so I hope it's the relay. I've got a car electrician coming to look next week so I'll see what he finds.
Was just approaching a big junction doing right turn and the car in front hesitated, I almost approached the line and the lights changed to amber I so stopped [nothing behind] but the wet roads and my new brake pads which are not yet bed in meant I was about 1 foot over the stop line.
Now this is bad but better than going through on amber however what would have happened if the lights had a camera? Would I have gone done for this or do they have to proove you jumped the lights completly?
Just interested to see what others think and what others would have done in my situation, if I had more experience I might have been more prepaired but with less than 1000 miles solo in my clock I am still making this sort of mistake.

Historically, large, heavy, solid loads like steel have been very badly restrained on trucks because the philosophy used was badly wrong.
Typically, very strong and rigid restraints, like chains, for example, were used to restrain such loads. The reasoning, such as it was, was that the chains were strong and you need strong restraints for such loads - or, even worse!, the steel is big and heavy, and isn't going anywhere!
In some senses they were right, once the steel was moving, deflecting it from its chosen path isn't easy!
It's wrong to restrain loads with very stiff devices like chains, because as soon as the load shifts a little, or settles a little against the wooden floor of the truck, the chains lose all of their tension, and the load is then only partially restrained! Then, as the load shists and suddenly takes up the slack the impact loading breaks the restraint, and the load is free!
An ex-colleauge worked on this problem, and he identified that the use of a strong but compliant restraint is required. As restraints like webbing aren't as strong as chains, more are needed to provide the required strength, but, these restraints are robust against small shifts and settling.
My daughter in law has 97 Fiesta 1.25 which appears to have an on-going fuel pump problem viz. no sound of it running when ignition is switched on & no pressure at test valve with ignition on.
The AA have been called to it about 3 times and each time it has been taken to a garage for repair. Once she was charged for a new pump which was later disputed by the AA on a subsequent call out.
I have heard this is not an unusual problem on these cars.
Can anybody enlighten me please ? Read more
Fuel pumps on these do not fail on a regular basis. However it is very common for the connector to the fuel pump/sender unit to overheat and cause a no start situation.Access to the connector is very limited unless the fuel tank is dropped down.Lift the rear seat and you will see the wiring as it travels through the floor to the tank via a large rubber grommet.hth

You see loads of MKIII Mondeos with a "chunk" of that circular taillight missing. Could it just be that all three bulbs have gone at once?
In an article in The Times, is says that The DVLA is selling drivers? names and addresses to clamping companies that break industry rules by charging drivers more than £500 for minor parking breaches

And no, I wouldn't rather have information released for free. I'd rather not have it released. >>
Well, then tell your MP. [Are you Mr. Cross in disguise?]
And in your helpful lesson in English, the comma should go after the word "then" and not before it. >>
I disagree. The comma can be used correctly in either place.
p.s. Is it correct to say "I wouldn't"?
Very embarassing ! I had a radio wiring problem that was fixed recently, but after the battery was reconnected the clock was 5 hours out ( I bought the car 3 months ago and am still waiting for the manual / handbook). I've tried all combinations of buttons to try to set the time correctly without success....any ideas ?
Cheers,

Hi
Would help if you told me what radio you have. if you have a time button press and hold it then you turn the tune nob. If nav unit it's in the nav setting. press nav then system settings clock. make sure you set home clock and turn off RDS clock or the time can jump about.
Hello
What would be the approximate regional variation for price.
For instance a 2003 Peugeot 307 HDI Rapier 53k, FSH advertised at £3500 in Manchester is valued at ? in my locality of Southampton.
Ongoing settlement claim with insurance company forces this question.
Also any tips on dealing with the insurance company would also be most helpful, have had 2 offers highest being £3600 (minus excess) to date, next level is complaint.
According to them having a service every 6k and a very recent cambelt change makes no difference to the valuation. Your views would be appreciated.
Thanks

Oh and just have to add, not entirely unexpected as widely reported about insurance companies, I rang them today about the payment that according to thier last letter would definitely be with me no later than today, unfortunatley they have inadvertently forgotten to send the cheque, but it will definitely be with me in the next week.
Is it me?, am I just being cynical?
Cheers
