Ford Mondeo (2007 - 2015)
2.0 tdci (140) Estate
Overpriced, tinny and bad MPG
I bought this estate to replace my 55 plate Toyota Avensis 2.0 litre estate. The Toyota averaged the quoted overall mpg of 47mpg.
This Ford is advertised at a combined mpg of over 53 mpg. I have a light right foot and my journeys are mixed town 20%/rural 40%and dual carriageways 40%. The onboard computer says that I am averaging about 43 so being disappointed I decided to doit the old fashioned way and found that in fact my combined mileage is 39mpg! What a con. I wanted a bigger estate, all the reports inc in this site were glowing but I couldn't work out how a car which was heavier than the Toyota, with a bigger engine (at least 20bhp more) could actually average 7 mph more - obviously its all smoke and mirrors.
Compared to the Toyota I find that the metal is thin and tinny and the doors do not close with a satisfying thus more a clang!
I have spoilt by the Toyota and am now thinking of selling!
