Ford Fiesta (2008 - 2013)
Zetec 1.25 5dr Hatchback
Excellent
I don't do a high mileage. Current total is 13,200. 2 regular weekly short runs, of 6 and 12 miles round, the rest are more occasional runs, anything from 60 to 200 miles in a day, on a 60-100 mile round trip I would typically have 3 passengers with me and drive with their comfort in mind. Longer runs, usually solo, are taken as fast as conditions allow, and petrol consumption suffers accordingly.
Performance I would describe as adequate, but it is a larger and presumably heavier body than my first Fiesta, which was from the first year with the 1,25 Zetec 16-valve engine. In other respects --- comfort, space, refinement, the intervening years have made a big difference.
Handling is excellent, as in all the Fiestas I have owned. (this is No.5)
One gripe: Brakes are powerful and consistent, but, on my car, the ABS appears to be at cross purposes with Brake Assist, and insists on grinding to a complete halt if a slippery bit of road surface brings it into play. Worse; on ice, quite a gentle application of the brakes lead to a complete lock-up. My garage has investigated, and insist everything is working properly.Luckily, I no longer need to go out in icy conditions, though there have been scary incidents.
