Ford Fiesta (2008 - 2013)
Zetec 1.6 TdCI
Cant work out why I am a bit non plussed.
Got off to a shaky start as the whole purchase was anchored by the claimed mpg. Maybe I was ignorant, I expected the 69mpg, I got 47mpg. The truth about this is you might get 50+ if you stay under 60mph, the moment you hit real world motorway speeds it drops to 44ish. Factor in the diesel price and its still good, just not quite as good as it might be. Big trips average 48-50.
It all works, which is nice. Sometimes reverse doesn't go in, the front pillars can hide oncoming cars on country lanes, bluetooth phone works great, bluetooth audio not yet with android phone. Tows heavy trailers with no drama up steep hills so cant complain about torque but overtaking is a bit dramatic. Heated front screen is epic.
No ford dealers for miles so used independents and nothing has broken in 4.5 years and 35k miles. Front tyres only lasting 12k, rears twice that. Now doing my own servicing which is fine. Sump cover is annoying to remove for an oil change and filter system is messy. Cheap as chips with the 4litre oil bottles from castrol.
Too reliable, cheap and inoffensive to chop in, too reliable, cheap and inoffensive to lust after. What you gonna do?
