Very Promising Start

500 miles into my 2 year lease of this Zetec S 1.6 (95) TDCI and things are looking good.

This is leased in a 2 year contract hire through the excellent people at Eagle Oak on a very good deal as the facelift version is out soon of course.

This Fiesta replaces a Mazda 2 TS2 1.3 petrol (86) and although the cars share a platform the contrast is amazing. The fiesta feels 2 classes up in refinement and sophistication.

I'm used to great handling after the Mazda and the Fiesta feels heavier (which it is) but the gorgeous steering - light but precise and with feel - make up for it. Ride quality is much better than the Mazda (despite 45 profile tyres) and the sports suspension mean it corners flat and fast.

Comfort is brilliant - fantastic sports seats and a perfect driving position.

Stereo is good.
Power and refinement from the 1.6 diesel are both good and I get 20% better economy from this despite travelling 20% faster on the motorway - only the lack of 6th gear stops the car getting a perfect 10/10.

A handsome, refined, comfortable and economical car - what more can you ask?
