Suzuki Vitara (2015 on)
1.4 Boosterjet SZ5 Allgrip 5door
Does everything I need it to do
This is my second vitara with this superb engine. Previously I had the vitara s with the same engine but a harder ride and more sporty appearance. Trim is much improved in this version.
The Vitara is perfectly proportioned for my needs. Not to long or wide, but enough room inside for 4 adults in comfort or 5 at a pinch. Because of its width, it easily fits smaller garages and not only that, it can be manoeuvred within the garage if is slightly crooked. I need 4x4 because of where I live in County Durham and because the default is 2 wheel drive, economy is not seriously affected.
I get around 35-37 on short journeys, which account for about 80% of my journeys, but anywhere from 45 -50 on long runs depending on how I drive it. And it is a great car to drive hard! The sport mode is amazing. My grandkids want this to be permanent!
A lot of technology. Too much for my liking. Double length sunroof but not sure how useful that is, blind spot monitor really good, parking sensors, camera etc, etc. And it has a manual handbrake. I would struggle I am sure without this. Also, the 1.4 doesn’t have a petrol particulate filter. The 1.0 Boosterjet does. Not sure if these filters will prove as problematical as they are in Diesel engines.
All in all a great car for about £25k list. I paid £23500.
