Suzuki Vitara (2015 on)
1.6 Sz-T Kuro 5dr SUV
Sporty looks, good spec, but under powered.
The Kuro is well equipped with lots of nice touches like the infotainment unit, with the sound activating control making me smile.
Fuel economy dipped to 41mpg during the winter months, heated screens, heating and lighting taking it's toll. Spring 2018 has seen new rear pads changed dues to an issue with the components in them. Since this the rear brakes seems to have stopped the slight binding, resulting in boosting the mpg up to 45.6. Most miles I do are short work trips, 9 miles each way. So can't really complain about the fuel economy.
Everything seems to be well put together inside the cabin, with all switches seeming still like new.
Comfort is good with everything in the right place, seat adjustment finds a near perfect driving position. Only criticism is my left knee bumps the centre console.
I do tend to find the 1.6 petrol unit lacks low down grunt, needing to rev it hard to get it going. When the rev counter passes 3500 rpm it surges forward giving plenty of ump then.
Handling is good for a SUV with some fun to be had in the tight twisty turns, but if you hit a pothole it thumps through the cabin.
Unfortunately I have had an issue with the rear tyre wear, at 8700 miles the tyres were just legal, my dealer, Jenkins Suzuki in Cardiff passed me onto Suzuki UK. Offers of 50% were turned down. Rear tyres should be good for 30000 miles. This is "on going" with mentions of rear axle replacement under warranty. Have three colleagues, with Vitaras who's rear tyres are also excessively wearing with sub 10000 miles recorded. This is clearly an issue Suzuki need to address ASAP.
