Suzuki Vitara (2015 on)
1.4 Boosterjet S Allgrip 5dr SUV
Amazing 3 in 1 car!
Had my Vitara 3 months now. After 9 years of diesel cars wanted to move away from DPF issues etc and needed a vehicle with better ground clearance.
Did my online research and set off to test drive some vehicles.
First up Suzuki dealership for the Vitara. 1.6 mid spec I thought would suit me. Talked to the salesman a bit and he lets slip he has a practically new but used 1.4 Boosterjet in white.
One test drive later and I'm sold.
All the toys and gadgets a man could want. Plenty space, fabulous looks. The handling was great and I hadn't even fully tested the performance!
Luckily for me the previous owner had specced the vehicle to the hilt with additional bumpers and side protection and an armrest. Oh and a japanese version of the analogue clock!
Yes it has lots of hard wearing plastic but so did my last car, a Focus, and guess what not much broke or rattled.
Three months on the car just gets better and better. The car truly is 3 in 1.
It is a great everyday car that does everything well; smooth engine and ride comfort.
When the weather turns you have more confidence knowing the Allgrip 4x4 system is thereand the high ground clearance makes light flooding less hazardous. Yet to try the Snow/Mud and lock options thankfully!
Then you have "Sport" mode. One flick of the wrist and the car comes alive. You can feel the car jolt into life. Yes there is a little lag when you hit the accelerator but the car loves the revs and overtaking is safe and reliable. Roads with a lot of bends are almost effortless. Just remember it does sit a bit higher than a sports car so you can't quite drive the same way but for me just an average driver it is mighty close.
Niggles?
Fuel economy is around 45mpg which is very good but with a 47 litre tank you don't get quite as far as you think you would as the vehicle's size suggests a bigger tank.
The boot is a pain and difficult to get shut as it is quite light so the right shove needed is a skill to master. The USB connection is a bit flaky. It doesn't always recognise the USB stick and often goes a bit awry. Taints slightly what is otherwise a very good infotainment system. The sat nav was clear and precise the one time used so far.
Lack of spare wheel is a bit of a strange thing for a vehicle with 4x4 capabilities but I guess I knew that when I signed up!
It is fast becoming the best car I have bought.
