Citroen C5 (2008 - 2016)
2.0 HDi 16v VTR+ 5dr Estate
Very nice versatile car for the money
I reviewed this car soon after I bought it in January (see below).
Eight months later, how do I feel?
Pretty much the same, I still like it. It's behaved itself apart from needing a new A/C condenser (under warranty). Done some longish trips in it including a 500-miler over two days. Very very comfortable, and has been extraordinarily useful in lugging loads about with offspring moving house etc. Now 3 years old, sailed through its MOT. Tyre wear seems very low.
Still don't like the feel of the steering, although in fact the car does handle remarkably well for such a big lump. One detail criticism, beware of the driver's door mirror, it should have been convex and not flat as there is a blind spot when you are being overtaken. I added one of those small after-market extra mirrors glued to the corner of the existing mirror to overcome it.
Fuel economy is excellent (remember it's a diesel manual) - average 47mpg and I always have the A/C running. Well over 50mpg on a run, cruising at 70-75mph.
Mine was a second-hand example, £10K with 25K miles on the clock, and I still think it is a great car for the money.
