Citroen C5 (2008 - 2016)
2.0i 16v Exclusive Automatic Estate
Very comfortable tourer exactly as described by HJ review!
I bought a new C5 Cross Tourer Auto from a main dealer in France. Extremely comfortable and it is exactly as described by the HJ! The steering is the worst part of the car because it does not 'self centre' and takes a bit of getting used to. There is very little useful storage space or anywhere to store a coffee or soft drink. The plastic fittings and fixtures are a little 'light' compared to my previous V6Tdi Passat auto estate. It is however significantly quieter during cruise and the auto gearbox is a delight ... very smooth indeed! The suspension is wonderful and better than I expected. I fit winter tyres on 17" wheels and this improves the ride considerably over the standard 18" alloys it came with.
Over more than 2000 miles of mixed motoring it is returning 44mpg and this means that I am able to drive from Evian les Bains to deepest Surrey without refuelling (if I wished to forgo the cheaper diesel in Calais!). The full size spare wheel is a great comfort and there is space around that to store the obligatory French breathalizers and safety triangle etc.
The SatNav system not great (I have reverted to my Garmin!) but the map functions, radio etc are very good.
After a year, and 25k miles of trouble free motoring, I have grown to appreciate the car even more.
