Overall reliability

Comfortable.fast and competent.

I bought this car for comfortable, long-distance travel and to tow my caravan several times a year.
The quality seems good and the automatic gearbox is excellent both solo and for towing.
In the 18 months I have owned it, I have covered around 14,000 miles, many of them towing a caravan, and there have been no faults to report.
The driver's seat height adjustment is not as good as I would like and the automatic engine cut-out over-ride lamp is obscured by the steering wheel.
The service interval of 18,000 miles or 2 years seems much too long - particularly with regard to an oil-change in a diesel engine. This may be for the convenience of BMW rather than with a view to engine (and particularly, Timing chain) longevity.
