BMW X3 (2010 - 2018)
XDrive 20d M Sport Auto 5dr 4 X 4
Excellent all round tool but suffers from a very strong acrid smell.
From delivery cabin was being filled randomly with an acrid smell, after 2 visits to the dealer and free carbon filters fitted to the air intake it has been advised officially the oil in the gearbox when hot is vaporizing and venting into the cabin and will bed in after 1500miles and dissapate.
After 3500 miles the smell was still there and the dealer said there was not a fix, 5 series autos were the same! and refered me to BMW customer service, BMW advise it is not broken and the smell will wear off in 5000miles but they will not send me a COSHH statement to give me confidance I am not killing myself and family.
I advised the dealer the goods are not suitable for purpose requested my money back they offered to drive the balance of miles with their staff which is not acceptable.
The response from BMW a premium brand is abysmal I doubt at 5000miles it will be any different thats when I will go legal.
Anyone experienced the same problem?
