Volkswagen Up (2012 - 2023)
Move up 1.0 5dr Hatchback
Super little car.
My first small capacity engine petrol car for about 20 yrs was initially a disappointment, with a complete lack of low down pull. However, once used to revving an engine again it's performance, for its size, is great. Okay it's still needs third gear to get up my local Pennine type hills but it is still returning over 50 mpg. It corners like an original mini but with a much better ride.
The build quality is great with no rattles or squeaks even though it is built to a price. With the seats folded down I can get a dumpy bag load of logs in the back, packed to the roof and side windows. I wish I had took the bet at the wood yard!
Faults ; the glove box and door pockets are too small so storage is limited. The sun visors are too small leaving a huge gap in the centre causing sun dazzle. There is no boot light. The seat belts are not hight adjustable. The B pillars are very thick so extra care has to be taken at T junctions.
I had tried to buy an Up! at the local car auctions but the prices were incredibly high so I approached my nearest VW dealer and bought an unused pre registered car, in my choice of colour, with a three warranty for only £200 more.
It's got a spare wheel....
