Overall reliability

Great fun and much more than a city car, it's fine for long distances too.

I bought the up! as a learner car for my children, but enjoy driving it so much I didn't replace my Renault Scenic when it broke down. It's used for short hops across town and for commuting but has also done a few longer journeys of 100-300 miles and coped admirably; though does need to drop down a gear for long steep hills.
We call it a tardis as it has so much space inside, easily coping with four adults (my eldest boys are 5'10" and 5'8" and sit comfortably behind me (5'9"). The boot is big enough for the weekly shopping and when the seats are down can take decent loads - I recently carried 3 adult mountain bikes, though had to remove the wheels.
Handling is good, mainly excellent, though does lose some composure when pushing really hard and fast round tight bends. Acceleration is good enough, and overtaking is fine with a little planning.
The interior is light and fun; a nice place to be. The standard speakers are terrible, but an easy upgrade with Hertz speakers has transformed the sound.
Fuel consumption has steadily increased and even when thrashed it seems to do 50mpg. 60mpg is easy to achieve with normal driving and I've seen 70mpg when I tried to drive economically.
