Ford Fiesta (2013 - 2017)
1.0 Ecoboost Titanium 125PS
Faster than it looks!
A well equipped and practical small car with a deceptively good performance and excellent handling. The high gearing takes some getting used to resulting in you travelling faster than you think you are going, so you have to keep an eye on the speedo or you are going to get points on your license. The engine is surprisingly flexible pulling strongly from as low as 1500rpm and whilst it has the typical 3 cylinder growl it never gets rough or unduly noisy.
Yes many have said real world economy of this Ecoboost engine is nowhere near the official test figures, although I have managed around 52mpg on a long cross-country run but driving enthusiastically to enjoy the car's potential drops it down to 43-45 mpg. In reality economy is about the same as my previous 1.6 petrol Mk III Focus 125PS, but that was fairly lethargic with the 1.6 Ti-VCT engine lacking in low-down torque. The Fiesta is much more fun to drive.
