BMW 3 Series (2012 - 2019)
330i 2.0 Luxury 4dr
2.0T is all you need but I miss the straight 6 from my 335i
I have owned my manual 330i Lux petrol for 3.5 years, after a 987 boxster 2.7 and before that an e92 335i coupe. I purchased it at 3 yrs / 71k and its now on 6 years / 95k.
Overall the car has been very good to own and drive. Not quite as good as the 335 before it which had a more characterful engine and a less crashy ride. 60 in 5.9 is fast enough for most situations and the car is happiest in the mid range where it has plenty of torque. The straight 6 trade-off is +10 mpg over the 335, high 30s instead of mid-high 20s.
Reliability has been good. Only routine servicing and consumables, apart from a slow leak from the coolant tank which was replaced by local mechanic for c.£350.
In summary, does not offer the economy of a 320d or straight 6 of a 340i. But as a slightly bigger Golf GTI rival the 330i is often overlooked and can be picked up for a good price, I would recommend. 4*
