BMW 3 Series (2012 - 2019)
316iES
Going well so far.
Bought this 2nd hand at 21 months old 17K miles in 2014. Its a bottom of the range car but I wanted the latest shape (F30) and this was the best I could afford at the time. Very comfortable and a nicely built good looking car only real driving gripes are that the pedals are offset, gearchange not the slickest and the heavy clutch needs to be pushed right to the floor to disengage but once I got used to it no problem. Despite being entry level in the range Its got all the essential extras the usual electrics and keyless ignition, Bluetooth, Cruise control, iDrive, reversing sensors/aid etc. I don't do enough miles to justify a Diesel so this car has a Petrol 1.6 engine with Twinscroll Turbo detuned in this application to 136PS and 220nm Torque. Its the N13 Prince engine pleasant and smooth to use and probably as economical as you could expect for petrol 36-38 commuting but seen 55mpg on our wonderful speed restricted motorways. I always use Shell V-Power. Performance wise 0-60 and top speed similar to 318d although obviously less torque. Now exactly 3 years old no faults at all in the time I have had it will probably keep it for years because it drives beautifully. Watch out for the service record though. Service details are stored on the keys which are read by a key reader at the BMW dealers as no doubt a way of locking you into the system. Also supposed to be stored on the idrive system in the car but mine isn't and no one at BMW is able to explain why or fix it. Had to get a service book from BMW and get it stamped or else would have had no service history which would be problematic if selling.
UPDATE September 2017 Now sold after 3 enjoyable years of ownership no faults/problems replaced with a 9 month old 320d M Sport Auto in Estoril Blue, my first ever Diesel just when everyone else is getting rid of theirs a decision I may well regret in the future but meantime happy days...
