Hi I hope someone might be able to help with some general advice or thoughts-my citron C3 the garage tells me that there is timing belt degradation - unfortunately I was not able to speak to the mechanic about this issue only receptionist who couldn’t tell me much. Obviously I understand if the timing belt had broken that will cause great damage but in terms of a timing belt degradation what damage could possibly be caused to my engine ? The car was running fine, no typical signs of a timing belt issue until the red warning light came on and requested I turn the engine off. Hoping someone on this forum can help a complete and utter car novice understand the scope of the issue- thank you in advance Read more
Hey all
I have a 2009 Ford fiesta (1.25) and a big fat coolant leak. I topped it up (actually above the max line) and the coolant dropped below the minimum line after about 70 miles of driving. ... Read more
EGR sounds unlikely.
I would suggest you (and more particularly the OP) start by confirming that your cooling fan is working, ...
Bought my car last year, it's 2012 and has 50000 miles on it. I've done about 8 since I've owned it. The other day I noticed what I thought was an engine noise, a kind of tapping in sync with the engine running when idle. It seemed to still be there when driving. I wasn't sure if it had always been there.
I was about to do a long journey so drove ten miles to local garage, checked the oil which was low and topped it up. Then I drove 200 miles home.... Read more
Not fixable? Pity
I have replaced a windscreen, but not on a newish car. Not sure but I THINK it was on a Renault 5, and involved cutting rubber seals, and pulling the replacement seal in with a bit of embedded fishing line. Tricky but doable....
Hello.
We are considering upsizing our current car to an SUV and have narrowed down the choices to 2 we like. We need a bigger car and an SUV is what we want.... Read more
Well done, tell us how you get on with it. and also the one you bought, spec-wise.
If you can, get a service package for it, worth it for the savings..or at least the ist service free, but when I bought the venga a few years back, the service package had to be purchased before the service was due....
As of 27th April my C Class will be 5years old - at what point do I cease having to pay the luxury car tax premium?

Is it luxury car tax?
No. The thread title is a misnomer. HMG describes it as 'VED expensive car supplement'....
Hi, I have a mazda cx5 with 100k on the clock. Was am getting check engine warning and the P2262 code. I then changed the exhaust pressure sensor from the old plastic one to the latest metal shell one. The code however keeps appearing. Seems to trip when you let off the gas and the engine idles when you stop at junctions or in traffic when low revs. Any suggestions as to what else it could be? Thanks Read more
I am having same issue replaced the sensor to updates one but still getting eml.light and code p2262 did you ever get to the bottome.of it ?
I'm looking for a better economy, if possible. My current car is 2012 Ford Fiesta Zetec petrol 1.25/80BHP and for the last year I did 7500 miles with combined 48.3 MPG. I need to mention I'm trying to be economical as possible (driving with 60 mph on the motorway, changing gears at 2000 rpm) Using the car mainly for commuting (80 miles per week, 50 of them on motorway). My budget is around £5000, but if the investment would be beneficial for me in terms of saving from fuel costs, I'm willing to spend more. Read more
I left the car this morning at the garage, stayed there for more than 5 hours, but overall they said nothing is wrong with it. Cleaning/lubricating brakes for £45. If squeeking again, changing pads/discs recommended. 3 months ago I had a service there without any issues. Strange...

Hi everyone, I'm looking to update an inbuilt sat nav dating from 2012.
I have come across a website called satnavishop that offers map updates for inbuilt systems at a fraction of the price of the main dealer. £200.00 vs £69.00. ... Read more
In the past week I have updated the maps on my car, a 2019 Kia Ceed and my wife's car a 2017 Ford Fiesta. Both updates were from the manufacturer's websites and were free.
In the past Kia used to charge for sat nav updates. Have they made it free now?
As title suggest I'm looking for a hot hatch in the region of £6k. What cars would you suggest keeping an eye out for? Read more
I remember back to 2005 when the Mk 1 Focus was being superseded by the Mk 2. My Mk 1 1.8 Zetec was coming up 7 years old and our local dealer was advertising deals on the outgoing ST 170 model so went along for a drive and see about a deal. Drive went well and despite it being the lowest powered Focus ST of all time (no turbo in this era) it was certainly no slouch. Problem was there were no 5 door versions anywhere in the country and all stock cars were laden with £1000,s of expensive extras like leather, xenon's, high grade sounds etc with little discount, left it at that.
With the desire to change still in mind borrowed a Civic Type R for the afternoon. 200 PS in that, still no turbo but it knocked the Focus into touch, brilliant car. Good deals available on stock cars but only 3 doors and the silly front "racing" seats made access into the rear difficult, left that one as well....
Would just like opinions/thoughts on this as I've not been to a main dealer for a service before (in fact any garage as done home servicing on my faithful VW for a decade and got it to 250,000 miles) and was shocked by the approach to advice and pricing.
5-year old Mazda3 now on 50,000 bought 8 months ago on approved used with warranty which I wanted to maintain so went main dealer service (I know legally you don't have to but didn't want any hassle).... Read more
Yes our plugs were changed having gone through 75k rather than 6 years. I always check the Mazda schedule in the car handbook and invariably the indie is spot on. Including oil spec. I assume they use a trade database of some sort to get the manufacturer service specs as they handle a range of makes.
I am 100% confident in their work....
I presume they also dropped the sump and cleaned the strainer etc....
