Standard tyres on my car are 225/45 R17 If i want to put winter tyres on steel wheels and gain the benefit of deeper tyres say 185/65 R15 or 205/55 R16 which size wheel will fit and not impede my brakes? Bearded John -

Quick warning. If your car has alloy wheels and a steel 'emergency wheel', DON'T USE THE ALLOY WHEEL'S BOLTS TO FIT THE EMERGENCY WHEEL. What usually happens is they are so long they go right through the hubs and interfere with the brakes. There shoud be a special set of bolts for the steel -

hi can anybody help me? my 1996 passat 1.9 tdi (fly by wire) has a problem where slowing down for a corner , junction or roundabout the engine revs stays up and i have to brake hard to slow the car then after a little delay the revs drop back. the car runs fine otherwise and is regulary serviced. -
