Had one as a hire car today. Shattered a few illusions, Strong 1.9 diesel, smooth and quiet thing linked to a very nice 6 speed box, nice electronic hand-brake. Seemingly as well made, good radio but a blinking fustrating heated rear window - the timer interval is unreal. Yes, I could buy one if I was in the market.

IIAC that's the same diesel that's in my van. Nissan Primastar.
It's very economical and does seem well matched to that 6 speed box, though you may have had the 5 speed box in your scenic.
The only thing I do find unnerving sometimes is the rev limiter. at little under 4000 rpm you run out of engine power. You have to appreciate this to get around it.

Most diesels begin to run out of puff around the 4000rpm point. The 1.9 dCi is more linear than most in its power delivery and certainly suits the Scenic more than the smaller 1.5 engine.

I had a 2.0 petrol as a hire car earlier in the year. It was a good car and much better than the Mk1 Scenic. However I preferred the 1.6 TDCi C-Max I hired a week later.

Yes - very linear. Almost as smooth as BMW 6 ( ;-) ). It was still in the car park at work today, ready to go back, still......
