hi can anybody help me? my 1996 passat 1.9 tdi (fly by wire) has a problem where slowing down for a corner , junction or roundabout the engine revs stays up and i have to brake hard to slow the car then after a little delay the revs drop back. the car runs fine otherwise and is regulary serviced.

Could be air temp sensor causing it,ie on a run where it should tell ecu its at normal running temp, instead it tells it its cold then corrects itself, unless you also have temp guage problem which is linked to ecu as well??.or stat problem

chirpy
I think that steve.o means you have a coolant temp sensor fault - quite common and easy to change. Buy a new seal and a new clip.
