Is it safe to use regenerative braking on my EV in winter?

Having got an EV this year (Kia Soul) this is our 1st winter with an EV. I use regenerative breaking via the paddles a lot but should I be doing something different in winter conditions. There seems to be conflicting views that regen breaking could lock up the wheels and cause skidding but other view is the regen is no different to an ICE and akin to engine breaking. Some clarity would be useful.

Using regenerative braking rather than actual breaking in snow or ice is a sensible approach, as it is less likely to lock the wheels, but it does depend on how your vehicle operates and whether you have the option to adjust the strength of the regenerative braking. It is possible that in certain conditions and with the regen turned up to the maximum the wheels could lock, and in this situation adjusting the level or regen or even gently touching the accelerator may be less intuitive than releasing the brakes, so we would advise caution and to use lower level regeneration where possible.
