Honda Jazz (2001 - 2008)
1.4i S
spacious, generally reliable, cheap to buy, expensive to maintain
Bought from non-local Honda dealer via What Car target price. Local Honda dealer would only offer free mats and a tank of fuel but no reduction on list price. Car generally used for short urban journeys. Fuel consumption always around 45mpg. Our car appears to have suffered from most of the problems listed on this website which has been very useful in helping to identify faults.
Rear door seal has let water in causing some rusting on frame and car always mists up in winter. Gear box became noisy in 2009. Honda dealer offered supply and fit of new bearings for £650 so decided to go for used gear box plus new clutch supplied and fitted by local garage (for same price).
Also have clicking noise when turning steering wheel....website suggests this is expensive to fix, so living with it for now. Some juddering when foot just on accelerator...think might be EGR valve. Again expensive to fix so using branded fuel with detergent and hoping this helps.
Car stands up well to family use, interior is hard wearing and seating flexible. Would agree with website summary.....good car but various faults developing now and quite expensive to fix.
