Honda Jazz (2001 - 2008)
1.4 SE sport auto
Reliable and quiet.
I've had this Jazz for about 15 months. It had 58000 when I bought it. Mileage is now
nearly 70000 and the oil is very clean, so I guess that it's had regular changes.
Gone thru 2 winters now and always started with 1st turn of the key.
I live in Birmingham, so I've gone for the auto, which makes city driving so much
easier. I don't think that I'd ever have a manual gearbox car ever again. Around
town I get 37- 41 M.P.G, but quite a bit less in the coldest winter months. On a run
down to Cornwall ( all motorway and fast A roads) I get 50+.
Like most owners, I find the 'magic seats' soooo useful.
It cruises well on the motorways - feels comfortable at 80 M.P.H, but on A roads it's
acceleration is poor for overtaking. ( I had a Nissan Micra 1.4 which was quicker !)
It's a pity that in G.B we only got offered the 1.4 . The 1.6 version with 125 B.H.P
might have attracted more potential (and younger) buyers.
A lot of owners complain about the choppy suspension. To me it's O.K - specially
as I stepped up from a 2002 Nissan Micra, but if your other car is a big Jaguar or
a Merc., then I'm sure that the Jazz suspension will feel agricultural.
All being well, I hope to keep this for a few years.
