Honda Jazz (2001 - 2008)
1.4s
Roomy and reliable.
Bought second hand from main dealer when 9 months 9000 miles old. In truth not a brilliant drive but roomy and utterly reliable.I put 90000 miles on it over 7 years when the steering/ignition barrel lock broke, proved an expensive repair £600 Fearful of more big bills coming I bought a new car and sold the Jazz to my brother for which he used for his work effectively running it into the ground.
.Even so apart from consumables and it's first replacement clutch at 120000miles my Bro put a further 80000 miles it over the next 5 years., in this time a brake sensor went faulty and also the rear hatch lock failed towards the end ,which he bodged a fix cos by now the car was getting a bit tatty..His son bought it then and learned to drive in it before selling it it on after passing his test , still a reliable runner with full MOT.He would have kept it but the insurance group is too high for a new driver.
All in all a fine buy ,a car that served my family for 14 years
Good:Reliable ,good motorway cruiser ,52mpg on a long run,37 -40 mpg around town..Incredilble versatility.Got a big cement mixer in the back etc etc , easily carried family of 4 and luggage and pram to airport for a long international holiday.
Bad: Expensive Dealer servicing. Not the most engaging car to drive around town ,fairly slow and crashes a bit over speed bumps and potholes.
