Honda Jazz (2001 - 2008)
1.4 SE Sport
Hugely Underwhelming-a disappointment.
I am fairly savvy about cars, I believe, having owned and purchased many, and suffered second hand dodgy buys before I have always favoured Japanese models and found them to be very good value, comfortable and reliable, this car was none of those. It looks good and has a perky 1347cc petrol engine about which I have no complaints, the stowage is very flexible and is a good car for running to the shops and the tip in that context. However it is the rear brakes which have been the bane of this owners life with this vehicle. They have seized on three occasions and been rebuilt twice in my 2.5 year ownership and it looks like there were problems before which I did not take seriously enough when I purchased it and looked at the service history, with the last seizure being the final straw as we have now traded it in for a nearly new Vauxhall Mokka , the handbrake is virtually useless even after service, the ride is too hard for long journeys (probably because it is a Sport). Although headroom and visibility is good the driving position for a 6ft 2" chap like myself is uncomfortable on long drives as it has no where to rest elbows and no cruise control. My wife and adult children find the rear seats too hard, and when an isofix child seat is fixed in behind the passenger seat it restricts legroom for the front passenger and they cannot tilt the seat back. I cannot recommend this car to anyone and having had a friend who had many problems with a similar aged Honda Accord Estate including seizing brakes it leads me to have reservations about Honda's so called reliability reputation. Mazda-Yes, Toyota-Yes Ford-Yes Vauxhall-Yes, Honda-a resounding Never again!!!!!!
