Smallish car with a smooth ride? 5 Sep 2022 (Forum)
So I'm looking to get a car - budget around £8k, I'm basically looking for the smoothest ride possible because I've got a head nerve problem. Are there any smallish/medium size cars models that have decent suspension? I'm in love with the old MK1 Ford fiestas and VW Golfs -
Dealer Sold Car With My Private Plate 24 Mar 2021 (Forum)

I was looking for a small automatic car and found the Toyota IQ in Toyota garage. It's 7 years old but have only 12k miles on it. Clear MOT history. What could be the problems with this car as it had low mileage? Could it already start to rot? How good usually dealer would check used car before -
Don't know - Car 13 Nov 2013 (Forum)
I have a thirty year old son who has just passed his test. He wants to spend a couple of thousand on a car. Cars of this age seem so unreliable. Someone said buy a Seat Ibiza but we can't find any where we live. He is well over six feet tall so the smaller cars are no use. He learned to drive -
Are older automatic cars more risky to buy? 8 Apr 2009 (Forum)
While looking around for a car in the price range of £800-£1000 (so around 10 years old), I've seen one or two automatics for sale. It's a big gamble buying a car of that price range and vintage anyway, but do you think that a car with an automatic gearbox would be a risk too far? Or were the auto -
Car Mags Must Go 9 Feb 2007 (Forum)
I have decided I want one of my spare bedroom 'back'. It is currently bursting at the seams with old car magazines. Mainly, Motor, Autocar & Car, from the 70s, 80s & 90s. They're all in pretty good nick & I'm reluctant to just throw them away. Does anybody know of any car club in the Manchester -

Any - Italian tuneups 4 May 2024 (Forum)
Most cars benefit from a good long fast run every now and then. My old 1.1 Fiesta would feel much more lively after a 500 mile thrash up to North Wales and back. But with many cars capable of over 150mph, how do you give them a good workout? -

I want to protect my new to me (3 year old merc, metalic silver) from the effects of tree sap and other nasties on the road. Use Autoglym super resin polish - but unsure which wax to buy - whether the high tech Meguirs is the one or plain cheap 'Turtle wax' or..........? Prefer easy to put on. -

Throwaway fun car. 27 Aug 2011 (Forum)
I loved my old Rangie and I don't like the new shape (far too big and blingy) so I've bought a 2002 4.6 HSE – last of the P38s. Complete heart-over-head purchase. Yeah something will go wrong and it'll probably break down but I'll enjoy myself while it's going! -

Yaris Aircon - regassing warranty cover 13 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Recently bought a Toyota Yaris for wife, car will be 3 years old in October. The aircon seems to take 3 or 4 minutes before delivering cool air and is not as cold as in my car, so I suspect it needs a re-gas. Would this be covered as a warranty fix or is it 'wear and tear' like brake pads? -
Acronyms for car names 25 Sep 2005 (Forum)
There was a thread some weeks ago about where the name for the new Fiat Croma came from. Must be an acronym, something like Crushing Residuals: Owners Mostly Angry. This kind of thing has obviously been going on for a few years at least: Like the old Daewoo Lanos, which obviously stood for Looks -
Buying a Vel Satis 31 Oct 2004 (Forum)
We're talking 3.5 V6 Initiale for about 20 000 Euro in Germany, 2-years old. HJ's Car-by-Car Breakdown says it's: "A very different driving experience from almost anything else. Curiously un-carlike to drive, but not unpleasant." Hmmm... I'm scheduled for a test drive on Saturday. What do you
