I have just paid £44.00 for a thermostat for my 1.8 brava!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously its needed in this weather otherwise i would not have bothered.

how do they justify the price of parts for a 9 year old car?

still, on the bright side, its doubled the resale value of the car (to £88)!

Try paying £60 for a thermostat for a 2002 Alfa 156 2.4JTD......

Try an independant specialist. The thermostat for my 156 GTA is £14 at a place I use. (Not needed one yet though :) )

I use an Alfa specialist Alternative Autos in Huddersfield. For Fiats Im not sure but there is shop4parts, I dont know how much they are but they do discount Fiat parts.

The price will depend to an extent on the quantity of parts manufactured. If the part is no longer used in current models, then the quantity manufactured will be lower and the manufacturing cost will be correspondingly higher.
